Latest next gen rumors

Not sure if this is already posted but I laughed my ass off at this article.

http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...-%20Wednesdays

Some highlights,

Quote:
built on the new Mazda MX-5 Miata platform
Quote:
Toyota will take advantage of a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine
Quote:
F1-style Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) for its powertrain
Really, that's all the article had. Everything else was fluff. Stupid articles.

Readers should take these rumors with a grain of salt, since it seems more like a wish list item than something that could be crammed into a vehicle that still stickers in the mid-$20,000 range.
Well at least they're acknowledging that it's bullshit.

motoring.au should be quoted for all things FRS/BRZ/GT86.

Any other website is just bullshitting.

All other websites are just quoting motoring.
Thanks for making it clear you didn't take it seriously there Ash. You saved me a rant.

Yes. He did indeed.

You know, I'm genuinely not interested the next iteration of the twins. I've owned mine since mid-2013. It's been fun. At the time I bought it, it fit my wants and needs better than anything else did. It's my first NEW car, and having paid so much, I'm content now to just drive it for as long as I can.

Furthermore, it seems that every consecutive concept just gets bigger wings and uglier body kits. I think I'm turning into an old man. I like the conservative lines of the original car. I also figure that by the time I've driven my car into the ground, we will be well into full EVs. I'll have my hearing aids in, leaning on some "nice young man" while he sells me an extended warranty...

This article, almost caused coffee to spray out my nose. Would have been a painful ordeal......... and I'd only be able to smell coffee for the rest of the day.... which I suppose isn't a bad thing.

I just hope they keep it relatively unmolested for 3 more years when it is time for me to get another. After that they can do whatever they want because retirement is planned for 2022 and then I can go upscale without the remorse of clocking mega miles on an expensive car. What that will be remains to be seen because god only knows what will be around by then.

I mean haven't you seen this? The next gen frs with optional AWD hybrid. Or they've been talking about a convertible.

Since Scion got rights to the Mazda 2 they are working on getting the miata as well, so they can release the much smaller Frs roadster, the smaller, even lighter frs.

They officially scrapped the convertible plan a year ago. Too bad as I would have been interested in that.
Any and every other version is just speculation on the part of the blogs since there has not been one single official statement made. Blogs misquoting execs at various shows or stating they know from an "inside" source are not official.

Toyota has a few options for the next generation FR-S. The 2.5-liter version of the FA20/ 4U-GSE engine that will debut in the 2015 FR-S and BRZ with 250-horsepower could continue on. Scion could be planning a cylinder Supra based on the FR-S, and has teased that idea with a Gazoo racing concept. Toyota is also getting back on the turbocharging wagon with a turbo four-cylinder that should debut on the Lexus NX compact SUV concept in November at the Tokyo motor show. We already know how potent a turbo FR-S can be, but developing an in house turbo four instead of working off the boxer engine would cut Subaru out of the engineering process altogether.

Want to read more? Here's the link

From what I see...

Toyota pulling away from subaru (maybe... I dont think it'll happen but maybe a 10% probability)

2.5 L 250hp boxer four (I'd like to see subaru make a 250hp boxer that has that much hp XD I think the 2.5L turbos from the wrx's were make 268hp back in 2006? Good luck with 250 from a NA 2.5L from subaru. I'd like to see it happen though.)

Scion could be planning a cylinder Supra based on the FR-S (no comment )

(If toyota pulls away from subaru they'd might, MIGHT beable to make a turbo model. Subaru doesnt want to make a turbo model due to the fact that they have the WRX and STI. If toyota pulls away which might never even happen, Idk how amazing a flat 4 turbo made from toyota would be... Turbo frs and no turbo BRZ will put the BRZ on the line for extinction.)

I'd like to call bs on most of this

I dont believe most of the rumors anyways. I'll believe when I see it. The only confirmed rumor from toyota is the new 2018 FT-1 that officialy started production. This time they collaborated with BMW to make this one.

Meaning... we all bought the wrong car. But at the same time, expect it to be a $80k car.

Have a link to the official announcement? Not doubting but curious. I would have 0 interest in that monster anyway since I prefer the 60s Batmobile.

This one is saying there might be a 1.5L hybrid model priced under the frs... I think i want to call BS on that.
