FI Hood insulation: To remove or not to remove

Hey everyone,

I'm running an AVO turbo kit and haven't had any issues yet (knock on wood) with over heating, but I'm still considering a few options - Perrin intake, oil cooler.
But before I do that, has anyone removed the hood insulation and noticed any positive or negative results? I haven't decided if it's helping or hurting engine bay heat soaking. I searched and couldn't find any topics really pertaining to this other than gaining engine bay clearance with a top mount

interesting...i'd like to know this too. I'm planning to purchase a vented hood in the future but if this helps a little bit for the time being with the ambient temps I'd be willing to remove mine.

Rather than theorize what the temps are doing, why not measure them? Thermometers are cheap. Just put one in your engine bay and measure temps with and without the insulation. Of course, try to eliminate all other variables like ambient temps, engine load, etc.

I would worry about fading the paint over time?

The insulation is really only for noise cancellation

with AVO's kit being low mount. The oil cooler is probably the better option. A vented hood for a low mount turbo is not as effective if its a front mount.

I pulled the insulation off on mine just to see what it did ( looked like excess weight to me) and apart from increasing engine noise ever so slightly it made no difference
