hi guys,
I'm a new to the GT86/FRS world, but I'm very happy to enter it. i have learned a lot from this forum and i wish to learn more and more from the members experience. I'm representing a team called Delta racing team (DRT) based in Qatar and we are participating in official races around the middle east. Our new challenge was to participate in the local race using 2.0L NA engine (as per the regulations) and we have chosen the GT86 for this job. After spending a lot of time reading and searching the web, we have decided to go for the TMG CS-V3 GT86 cup car made by TMG in Germany. The car has been manufactured in the TMG workshop and was shipped directly to us. Thanks for TMG for this! As you know, the car came with V3 specification which leaves the engine as completely stock, but modifies the handling. the complete specs of the car is available on : HTML Code:
http://www.toyota-motorsport.com/motorsport/images/CS-V3_Technical_Specifications_2013_car.pdf Power: 1. Engine: stock 2. Inlet & filter : stock 3. Exhaust :custom made by TMG 4. manifold : stock Suspension: ÖHLINS 2 way adjustable front with Camber adjustable Rear fixed Torsen LSD; 4,1 Ratio O.Z. 17”x8 racing wheels Brakes: STD rotors Ventilated front STD Rear Rotors solid rear Racing pads done by TMG Braided brake lines TMG brake cooling duct system harness: FIA approved racing seat with TMG console Steering wheel 320mm, 3-Spoke racing wheel with PTT Button 6-point racing TAKATA safety harness, HANS applicable electronic fire extinguisher system Full welded roll cage. Now, After trying the car on the track in the official tests, the car felt great in handling & it is very reliable especially with the hot weather that we have here. TMG has made a really great car that could run even for 24hours race with no problems. However, its not enough to compete in this race and we need to look for more modification to be done especially on the power. As per the race regulations, the engine should remain stock with 2.0L NA, but all other parts are free of restriction including the ECU and the inlet. my question is, what i can do to increase the power with the same engine. i have decided to go for UEL headers with skunck 2 filter, but can i do anything more? any suggestion? keep in mind that the car is used only for races Also, do i have to make any ECU tune for the Headers & the filter only? i will keep this thread for the project progress and will update it with pictures, modifications, & race results thanks omran |

ok to add on the above, i started the cooperation with three main companies for helping me in modification, these are:
1. braking: (Project Mu) - change the STD rotors and throw in SCR pure plus rotors all around - change the pads to have H16-03 pads This combination should give me the best performance in brakes with the STD brakes size. 2. Weight reduction: (plastics 4 performance) lexan windows kit from P4P 3. aerodynamics: (from FT-86) - APR Carbon Fiber Formula 3 Mirrors - APR Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser - Password JDM Dry Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser - APR GT-250 Carbon Fiber Wing 67in all three companies were great in their services and will post some pictures once all the installation done.

OMG, this is a fantastic car, I am very excited to have you on the forum and hopefully you can give us some good photo of the car once you get it.
So far I have seen very few photo of the TMG build, but it looks above any build I have seen in the USA, far above. Do you mind me asking how much did you pay for the full setup ? I think this is an important data point for all of us who built their own car... It may actually be cheaper to get it right from the get go and pay the extra $ to TMG ![]() Looking forward to see more of the TMG car! As far as power the exhaust header and a tune seems to be the main thing that will bring you more power. If you have access to E85 fuel, the tune will be even more beneficial.

The car costs €45,815 including German VAT including all the needed options to race. The only thing missing is modifying the engine power which I'm welling to do now. Will post photos of the car in different stages and will keep this thread updated.

Seriously I think you made the right choice, after all the money I spent on my car, I would have gladly pay a few extra thousands to get a brand new car from TMG. Also resale value will be much higher if you ever want to sale it. I think so far my car should have cost me $30k for a nice ready to race car, but with all the fucked up from TR3 Motorsports, I had to redo a bunch of stuff. After my experience I think $50k is not bad for a brand new factory backed car. Again, I hope you can take some really good photo of the car features, I think many of us could learn from the TMG build.

I didn't see anything in the specs about an oil cooler, so that would be a must if you are racing in a hot climate.
Also, an ecutek tune would be wise since you have an UEL header and need to extract the most power from it. |

ecutek is a good option as i read here, but the open flash is a great tool too? isn't it? considering the lack of tuners here in country, i have to get the maps from abroad.

Plenty know way more than I do, but if you can change out the stock headers, do that. Then get a custom tune to whatever fuel you are running and that should give you a decent power bump.
Car looks great though - |

I would 100% go to EcuTek (or ideally a full standalone) for a dedicated race car. I would also go with good EL headers over UEL, power gains will be better. Have a look at the ACE 4-2-1 (made 199whp on California 91 octane).
I would stick with the stock intake with a good drop in filter, definitely research intakes before buying. Lots won't make any power over stock, and some will hurt power in more places than they help. Whatever you do, you're going to want someone knowledgeable to help with the tune. It needs to be tuned for the gas you're going to run, in the conditions you're going to be running, and done with a good safety margin since it's a race car. What works for high dyno numbers in a cool climate with good 94 octane is going to be quite different than what you need. I would also suggest a proper diffuser and splitter. The "diffuser" on your list is purely cosmetic and will function no differently than the stock plastic. A well designed splitter and diffuser will lower drag AND increase downforce.

Very nice! In for details although the pricing IIRC is much closer to $70-90K which makes it about 3x the price of a Spec86 Cup car with similar or lower performance.
![]() Definitely will be following you guys for sure. Maybe we can get you to start a branch of Spec86 Cup in Qatar! -mike |

I am very excited to see a forum member getting a TMG car...
plenty of reverse engineering for us to do ! I am curious mainly about: - Cutoff switch wiring - how to they attach the interior fuse box and power steering considering the roll cage is going through the stock location. - exact routing of the fire suppression system - driver metal 'floor mat' exact size and attachment method to the floor - pedals look different I wonder if they are just t86 euro or something more fancy - trunk latch mechanism, I've never seen that one before ![]() - hood pin mechanism details - brake duct path (if there is any). - ... more details photo overall
