OEM Amp and Sub question

Hey all,

I'm wanting to add a sub/amp but retain the stock stereo. Need some advice please!

Looking at adding this amp:

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BF6HYDE?colid=2YMNAQWJQSSKI&coliid=I36LGF21KS1A Y3&psc=1&ref_=wl_it_dp_o_pd_S_ttl"]Amazon.com: Rockford Fosgate R500X1D Prime 1-Channel Class D Amplifier: Car Electronics[/ame]

and this sub:

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YQ3VCCM?colid=2YMNAQWJQSSKI&coliid=I33HLIDXF65X 87&ref_=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl"]Amazon.com : Manufacturer Refurbished Kicker 40TCWS104 10" 600W Car/Truck Subwoofer + Box : Car Electronics[/ame]

using a wiring harness from here:

http://ae64.com/10-6-pincombinedharness.htm

to tap into the rear amp and add an RCA line out:

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/PAC-SNI-35-Variable-Line-Converter/dp/B001EAWS3W/ref=pd_bxgy_422_img_z"]Amazon.com : PAC SNI-35 Variable LOC Line Out Converter : Power Converters : Car Electronics[/ame]

Will this be alright? Is it a good combo (for anyone with more experience than I)?

I have a single kicker 12" and its perfect. I don't know what you listen to or how you want it to sound, but a 10" will just add a bit more kick to the music. Wont hit that much.

um, the max output is much more important than the size of the speaker. Unless your 12 is 2000 watts, there are tens out there that would blow it apart.

There are certainly 10s that can hit harder than a 12, but generally speaking youre going to get better tunes from a 12. A 15 would hit even lower, but its not as dynamic as a 10. Just being general

Actually, a good 15 will be more dynamic than any 10 or 12. With sub bass, cone area is king, period, if you want accuracy. The best car I've ever heard used an Illusion C12xl in the passenger foot well/glove box of a smart car. It plays absolutely every genre well.

The absolute best trunk mounted sub set up I've heard was Gary Summers Mercedes, with two 12" Morel Ultimos. Of course, Gary has 4 Oscars so it goes without saying, his tuning skills are super human.

Next best trunk setup is a Stereo Integrity 18" sub ran IB.

All 3 of these setups will beat you in the chest, while being accurate to the music, in any genre.

Keep in mind, kick or punch comes from your mid bass speakers, not your sub. Easy way to prove it, turn off everything but the sub. It won't hit at all, it's just reinforcement for the mid bass.
