Hit and Run

Vent:
Yesterday I was driving down to Santa Cruz during rush hour, so I took skyline to 17. The southern part of skyline is super narrow, with lots of blind turns. Sketched me out, so I started honking before every blind turn. I'm glad I did, because as I came around a tight left turn, two motorcyclists came blazing through.

They were going pretty fast for a small, twisty road, and the lead guy was coming right at me. He swerved to correct and kinda bounced off me, right above the driver's side rear wheel. They both flew off... I yelled at them to come back, to no avail.

So now I have a solid dent, some scratches, and remnants of the motorcycles red paint on my car. Gotta pay $500 insurance deductible.

Moral of the story: time to get a dash cam.

The nerve of those guys, not coming back after "flying off" But seriously though, that sucks, although I'm not so sure how much a dash cam would have helped considering it was a front end collision and bikes only have rear license plates that are usually super tiny.

yeah sucks to hear this. but I agree, maybe take that money you would have spent on a dash cam and use it toward lowering your insurance deductibles to something more palatable, like $0 or $100.

Ouch - sorry to hear. Is that Black Road? That road is super blind/tight - I almost hit a vette there last month.

I know where he's talking about; it's the single-lane section of Skyline / Summit. I've surprised a few people there myself, but I always keep my headlights on.

you can bet that motorcyclist was shaken too - that could have been fatal for him if it were half a foot more, or a very serious injury.
