MAPerformance 2015 WRX Project

Hey everyone. So on Saturday I picked up a 2015 WRX! (Actually it's my Wife's car, but who's counting) Pretty excited to start playing with this car. So far I am pretty impressed with it! We put it on the dyno right away to get a good baseline done. This was on 93 oct. Numbers seem to be on part with other stock WRX's, but the factory tune leaves more to be desired. Especially that dip at 5200rpm. This could be the knock issues some of these cars are having from the factory? Either way, I have an Accessport on the way. I am going to test the OTS maps to see how much it improves on the factory tune, then go straight to some custom tuning. I will keep you posted as we get further with the car

Future plans:

TMIC upgrade
Charge pipe
BOV
J-pipe
Midpipe
Cat back

Yesterday I received the Cobb Accessport, and decided to flash the car and get some numbers! I flashed it with the stage 1 93 octane tune. First thing I noticed was the throttle mapping was much nicer than stock. The stock pedal is very touchy, and really feels like 100% at 30%. The Cobb tune makes the throttle much more linear which made the car nicer, and smoother to drive. The next thing I noticed is the power delivery. Much smoother for sure. The stock tune was very "jumpy" and all over the place, and fell on it's face a bit pass 5000rpm (mainly due to knock issues). The Cobb tune really seems to smooth out the power up top and carried it to redline. This is really where the tune shines.

This is a 4th gear stock tune, and 4th gear stage 1 93 oct

We also shut the fans off to do a run for the camera in 3rd gear. Actually showed a bit more power too...

Next week we are going to start focusing on an in house custom tune and seeing if we can improve upon the OTS maps. Stay tuned!

The Cobb OTS tunes seem very conservative based on other tunes I am seeing on the stock car from other tuners. Interested in seeing what you guys can come up with, I am just in Maple Grove not too far away.

They definitely are compared to a protune but need to be given their ots nature. I agree I'm excited to see what map comes up with too!

I think our pro tune is going to really wake it up, I do like the top end power the OTS map provides though. Pulls much harder up top.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Right now we are testing some BOV's options, and I have a Tomei Titanium cat back on the car as well. Of course the day I let the Wife take it to work, was the day our tuner wanted to develop the pro tune on it! So tomorrow we will begin doing that. I should have some more exciting updates then!
