Looking for Timing/Video/Datalogging Recommendations

I figure the best way to get faster in this car is going to be seat time and a way to measure my learning. I've done many trackdays throughout the years but I'm making a concerted effort this year to really become a better driver. A lot has changed over the years and the technology is unknown to me. Please help!

WANT:
Video
Lap times
Throttle position
G's
MPH

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.

I assume you're looking for fully integrated solutions.

Cheapest to most expensive:

Harry's Lap Timer + OBD2 bluetooth
AIM Solo DL + Smarty Cam << This is what I would recommend.
Racelogic Vbox HD

Can the Aim SOLO DL work with a GoPro? I'd like to get a GoPro for video if possible due to popularity.

CMS Lap Timer + OBD2 BT is cheaper

Generally, when using GoPro you need to transfer the video and data files to a computer and us something like RaceRender to merge them.

If you want the video to be created with data overlays on the fly, you'll need something much more expensive from Race Technology, AIM, etc... Well over $1000.

Yikes why is the SmartyCam so expensive!? I can buy 2-3 Go Pro's for the same price.

I'd really like to be able to look at top-down telemetry between sessions, but video is not so necessary. That can wait until I get home and can piece the video and telemetry together.

It can with race render, but you have to do some setup work, and sync it yourself.

Because it literally is fully integrated. You get a video with all the overlays and syncing done FOR you.

If you think that's bad, look into the Racelogic system...

I do all my data logging / video recording with my Aim Solo DL + GoPro + RaceRender 3.

It takes a little bit of work to get everything synced (usually like 5 minutes messing around with offsets, etc.) but it gives me everything I need and looks pretty good in my opinion.

Racetechnology in the UK has a setup that controls the gopro on the fly but their equipment and interface looks like its a couple of years out of date

If you won't be reviewing video after each session, go with SoloDL and GoPro. Mike has given the cheapest way, and the preferred way. Go with the preferred method like Josh. I like my SmartyCam because I have no time to turn things on, etc. I just suit up and jump in the car. Auto records at 30mph threshold, shuts off 1min after I stop. I have cable wired in the car already so I just connect and review video with data already overlayed. Daytona video is go pro, CMP video is SmartyCam for comparison.
