Are they dumping the ATs first ?

I go weekly to check up on the status of my Fr-S

I'm amazed to see that the almost totality of deliveries in Quebec are automatics anyone else notice this ?

It's probably just the fact that dealers order the demos as automatic so that anyone can try it out. Its the safe bet.

Also, they probably figured the auto would appeal to the masses but the true enthusiasts are the ones actually buying, and the majority are going for the manual?

I'd be curious to know what the ratio is at the end of the year.

My dealer still has a gorgeous white AT parked right outside the showroom, for 2 weeks now. Actually surprised the car is still there.
If it was MT, methinks it would have been gone same day.

True enthusiast here, and I've got an AT on order, I know I can't shift as fast as a computer and for the slight difference in 0-60, I figured it was worth it. I mean its got "the same gearbox as the ISF" in it...to each his own.

I spoke with the operations manager of Scion this afternoon and the AT are actually significantly less popular as far as sales go. Surprisingly (maybe?) the most popular config is whiteout MT followed by whiteout AT. My ultramarine AT is one of the least popular. So I'll always know which one is mine I guess.

No disrespect implied for you AT folks. The true enthusiast knows what they want (most people on this site), whether AT or MT.

Also, as an example, my dealer was given 8 units on allocation and selected models based on:
  • any pre-orders (deposits given by early May which is when they needed to be placed as far as I know, 4 deposits in my case)
  • dealer demo cars (what the dealer wanted to get for themselves)
  • guess for the rest?
My dealer had already decided to get a Firestorm MT as one of their allocation units, so I was able to secure that unit as my own when I placed my deposit.
