Fixing up white scratches?

I just bought a 2013 FRS, it has a few white scratchs on black paint. It isn't a big issue, but it can be kind of noticeable from a distance. It doesn't look like they are deep scratches, but I still would like to take care of them. Anyone have any suggestions that will clear these up that I can do myself.

I think what you need is a polish. I like to use Meguiar's Scatch X2.0. My car is WR Blue, but its gotten rid of the few scratches I've had on my car.

Some companies make waxes specifically for black cars, I wouldn't be surprised if they made polish for them too.

yes a good polish will most likely get rid of it

i always felt like those "waxes" meant for black cards was just a temp solution, it just fills the swirls and scratches, doesnt get rid of them, after a few washes it will look like crap again


you can get a polish from any local auto zone etc etc, just use a micro fiber towel and do it bye hand, it may not get rid of it completly, but will should lighten the scratch up for you

If they catch with your fingernail chances are you're screwed. If it's just the clear coat it can be polished out.

It doesn't feel like they catch. I'm going to try polish when I get the chance.

I got some pics of the scratches. The two light ones I can run my fingernail through without any issue. The more prominent white one that isn't straight it gets caught on very slightly.

the one on the right should polish out to where you wont be able to even notice it

the one on the left should polish out with hand but you might be able to still see it if your looking for it

So I've never cleaned/polished a car before. Do I wash, then polish, then wax all with a microfiber cloth?

yep you are correct, if your just gonna attack those two scratches you have posted about, no sense in going crazy, just was the car or the area before using the polish

if you clan to do more bye hand around the car, i would recommend using a clay bar after washing but before polishing

Looks like you've got swirl marks all over your paint. Might be worth going to a pro detailer and having them correct those spots and do a light polish over the entire car.

Or do it yourself. Machine polishing is grueling work and not fun. I can't even imagine hand polishing.

If I did it myself it'd be by hand, don't have a machine...there is a pro detailer near but it's costly but seems worth it to get it done once at least.
