Dealer Service

So, i've been doing my own oil changes and my own work on my car as far as bolt-on mods go. I'm reaching the 6000 mile mark, however, I just did my 6-month oil change.

Is there a need to have to go to a dealer and have them do the recommended service at 6000 miles? I won't let them do an oil change for obvious reasons, but for other reasons, should I go?

Another note, I bought my car out of state, but had my Gold Plus warranty, that should cover me going to my closest dealer and everything should be OK with nothing to have to pay out of pocket right?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

I do my own. Im traumatized.

Few years back, went to jiffy lube or whatever the company is called, had oil changed and as soon as i get on highway ramp, creokkkkk! My engine fan hit something or it felt like it did.

What happened? The dudes at jiffy forgot to tighten oil filter. My dad was pissed. Ever since, change my own. That way, i know what goes in and how its done. The guys at jiffy offered to refund my money... $30... my dad called the Jiffy place and told the manager to [censored].

Need is only if its under warranty, from my understanding with the dealer, right guys? They want to make sure maintenance is done at set millage intervals.

If doing your own be fully prepared to prove it should you have any problems.
An idea that somebody posted here long ago sounded really effective to me. They recommended that you take a date stamped picture of the receipt for the materials beside the odometer showing the mileage. Although this does not necessarily prove you did it then it certainly shows evidence that you could have.

I've taken photos of everything that I had done to my car. Oil changes I do myself, but since i'm approaching that 6000 mile service, should I go into the dealer to have that performed or just skip it entirely?

I don't necessarily have to go to the dealer for the service, it's just recommended by Subaru. I do all my own work anyway.

Thoughts?

On Scions website it says something along the lines of not needing proof.

Here is what I found just searching for a few minutes, from the FR-S Warranty Maintenance guide.

Quote:
You are responsible for performance of
the required maintenance indicated in
the Owner’s Manual and this booklet.
Scion will not deny a warranty claim
solely because you do not have records
to show that you maintained your
vehicle. However, any failure or
noncompliance caused by lack of
maintenance is not covered by this
warranty.
When maintenance and repairs are
paid for by you, these services may be
performed by you or by any
automotive service provider you
choose. Scion will not deny a warranty
claim solely because you used a
service provider other than an
Authorized Servicing Dealership for
maintenance and repairs. However,
any failure or noncompliance caused by
improper maintenance or repairs is not
covered by this warranty.

Do it yourself. Its not worth the time to take it to the dealer. They also thank you by washing your car with dirty rags
