Why does everyone touch my car?

I'm getting so irritated. I stopped at an office today, in the visitor parking, and when I came out there was a ticket on the windshield. I pulled it off (leaving behind a bunch of sticky glue) and saw a bunch of finger smudges. Apparently I neglected to sign in (even though there are no instructions anywhere to do so) and the security lady said if it happened again, they'd tow my beloved brz.

What is it about this car? Everyone thinks it's public property. I get no respect at all. Rear-ended once. Got scuff marks on the door jamb from people dragging their feet inside, both at the dealership and the body shop. They replaced my TPMS sensor and crawled all inside the trunk without covering up the bumper. I just don't understand it.

I get cut off and tailgated and it just seems like people are TRYING to hit me. Every day I'm having to pull back or move over or slam on the brakes because someone didn't see me (or didn't care). Maybe it's the "beat up the little guy because he can't fight back"? I get no respect because the car is small?

Am I crazy, or is this normal? I work very hard to keep my car in pristine condition, and everyone else treats it like a public toilet; they don't care because it isn't their car, or their car is dirty and dented so mine should be too. If someone sees I have a new car, they say "Nice car!" and rub it like they're checking out the skin on a prostitute.

Sorry for the rant... just wish everyone respected my property as if I actually owned it and cared about it...

' Got scuff marks on the door jamb from people dragging their feet inside '

I think this is fairly hard to avoid... Other than that, maybe it's the color ? I'm DGM and it seems that I get ignored [ knocking on wood ]

I find that people tend to drive more aggressive around me in this vehicle than they did in my Civic and Lexus. I've had trucks drift around a corner behind me, mustangs roast their tires and peel out in front of me, I've had people slam in front of me at a 2 lane to 1 merge and cut me off and then drive below the speed limit as though enforcing some bizarre masochistic penalty upon me...Countless other horrors their gift to me as well.

Indeed, everyone is a racecar driver now.

My anecdotal evidence contradicts your anecdotal evidence.

But seriously, if you're almost getting into accidents every day like you say, then is it possible the problem is you? It's very easy to drive more aggressively (intentionally or no) in a car like the 86, and that could be the cause of your problems.

I've only had the car for 4 days now, and man do people want to show off their cars to mine. Just this morning, I had a stereotypical Civic hatch rev their engine at me at a stoplight, a lifted F-150 hug my tail, and a Corolla cut me off when the other lanes were clear. I don't mind the stoplight crap because I just stare straight then pull off at low speeds but the other stuff gets annoying.

So let me get it right:

- you didn't sign in and got a warning on your windshield
- your car was at the body shop and people didn't get in/out of your car properly
- you get cut off and tailgated

Honestly, I can say the same about every car I've driven if I put myself in your situation. The first one is entirely your fault. The second one, get over it if you want others to service your car.

The third... really, just stop thinking the world is out to get you.

I think people don't understand that, this car cost about close to or little over 30k after tax.
I am sure most of us here was looking into cars in range of mid 40k car and afford it.
Don't let haters hate for your enjoyment.
