Aim DL SOLO Vs MXL
I am looking at the Aim solo vs MXL pista
I really don't see the advantages of spending extra money on the XML pista, as it really doesn't show much more than what I can see on the OEM cluster. ok may be additional flash lights but really not that much value added. The solo DL seems to show just as much information. Is there something I am missing ? what would be the point to pick the Aim pista instead of the Solo ? And secondly why would anybody want to remove the poem dash and put and Aim pista instead ? Looks to me like there there will be less information available... Hope someone can chime in, as I see these Aim Pista in a lot of cars, but I just can't explain it when I see the rather short list of data aim can get from the car: Quote:

If you need to ask, you definitely don't need the MXL. It's a fully programmable dash that can display whatever you want, whenever you want, however you want.

I'd be curious to see what could be usefull.
Ok warnings for oil temp and water temp would be nice. doesn't the solo DL does that already ? As for displaying whatever you want when you want, the list of data available is rather limited and most of it is useless to the driver. I mean wheel speed, or pedal sensor, brake switch, ambient air... fun for video overlay but once you are behind the wheel I don't see the point of these data. please enlight me

MXL you can add extra sensors which you can't with the DL.
You get a shift light, you can add a wideband and show it on the display along with oil pressure, oil temp, water temp, fuel pressure, etc. For example on our race car we wanted to add the oil pressure and the temperature of the supercharger, all we had to do was to buy sensors and plug them on the dash an we can see them along with the rest of the data. We are also going to use different temp sensor and pressure sensor to develop our aero. It is probably not usefull on a street car or maybe a little overkill. It was especially helpfull on cars which couldn't communicate or have many sensors logged on the OEM ECU but the FRS is not one of them. |

The MXL2 is the current model of MXL being sold. The advantages as others have said is that the MXL2 can be programmed for the driver information to be displayed for them.
For instance our driver of our Spec86 WTW car doesn't care about any of the gauges or sensors because he is focused on RACING, however the MXL2 can be programmed to flash the entire dash if one of those sensors goes outside the range which is safe. So if he see's the thing flashing at him, he can then see what the issue is. Low oil pressure, Oil Temps, coolant temps, etc. For a street driven car the MXL2 IMO is overkill. If your car is a mixed use care like my Project BRZ the AIM Solo DL is a more cost effective part IMO.
