Q300/perrin catback design
I know these two catbacks are on the quieter side of things, but how do they actually compare to the stock catback in terms of flow? They are obviously not straight-through designs.
My question is, do they actually provide a benefit in terms of less restriction that is even statistically noticeable vs stock, to justify the price? Other than dyno testing, I'm not sure how you'd quantify this. I'm looking at getting one of the two. With a catless header and catless 2.5" piping from the header back to the catback, would a stock muffler be much of a detriment in power? Thoughts? |

If N/A, buy a catback based on sound. Nothing else.

Yeah, you're not gonna gain any real power with a catback unless and until you go turbo + 3" pipes

So no one knows eh?
I'd be curious to see the inside of either of these exhausts. I doubt anyone has cut one open though. What would really be neat is to see the dB/psi of back-pressure ratio between stock and these two exhausts. I'd be interested in knowing if you could achieve a larger dB reduction at the same or less back pressure. |

Back in the day D sport did an article comparing a lot of exhausts back to back on the dyno.
You can read the article on the PERRIN 2.5" here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=108 |

5-10rwhp is not bad considering our car only dyno at around 150-160rwhp.
