Enjoying nods/eyeing from people in faster cars

Like many here, I've been making excuses to drive around because well.. the car enjoys being driven! I noticed a lot of people in faster/expensive cars catching up to look at the FR-S and giving me a nod/wave. Very favorable responses to a car that isn't too fast nor too expensive.

I've had people in the top trim Camaros, Challengers, Mustangs, and even some Corvettes all applaud the FR-S. I work at a race shop and even though many guys here swear by American muscle, they think the FR-S is a neat car, "even if it is a Scion." Funny thing, we run Toyotas here.. looks like I need to rebadge it in case Akio Toyoda makes a surprise visit!

Also noticed a lot of Audi/Lexus/BMW owners like to eye up the car on the highway. I had one guy in a BMW who stopped next to me at a light and said, "nice car! mind if I ask how much?" He looked super executive, so I decided to push his buttons and say 60 grand! I think he even believed me...

While there have been a few fringe cases of people in Mustangs or large trucks feeling the need to smoke tires off the line trying to 'dominate' over the FR-S, I'm glad that the overall response has been one of acceptance. The car isn't spectacular on paper but man is it a whole lot of fun to drive.

Erik, I'm happy to hear that the reception towards your FR-S has been positive especially considering how many "stoplight racers" we have in Charlotte.

I hope to run into you and the car at some point - so if you see a guy in a red Celica with 6gc decals grinning at you crazily and giving you a thumbs up don't worry it's me.

I let a few friends run our FRS around the block yesterday. Leaving the neighborhood we had someone on a very nice CBR basically break his neck in a 180 degree owl impersonation looking at the car. I was actually worried that after the full football field or more that he stared at the car, he would end up in a ditch, tree, another car or worse, lol.

I get it though. Every time I park it, I just stare at it for a second or two. We are very fortunate to be in the minority that have one of these cars!

Commuted to work today chillin next to a red boxster, with old dude rockin no top, was like 15 minutes with that guy in the vicinity. He did not have a need to act like a prick either. Cool dude, good looking car!
