Aftermarket seats/Rails for Track Days...
Was not sure if I should put this here or the track sessions but anywho...
I'm a tall guy at 6'1, so like many other people im sure i realized that I have to lean my seat back quite a bit to fit in the car with a helmet on. I was looking at the possibility of getting an aftermarket seat/rails that possibly sit lower so that I can sit in a more comfortable position without needing to have a seriously uncomfortable lean going on. Was wondering if anyone else does this and has some recommendations? |

Really? No one in here has some hands on experience with a seat and rails in a similar situation that can chime in?

I'd check post this in the tracking/autoX forum. Plenty people have done it, but I don't think people get a lot more headroom. Maybe enough to make a difference for you, though.
I'm 6'3" and fit just fine. BARELY. |

I'm in a similar boat - 6'2" (long torso so head room is the issue). I generally like to sit pretty upright, but with a helmet it's impossible so i have to scoot forward a bit and recline a bit. It isn't my favorite, but getting used to it is better than spending a ton of money on rails/new seat/etc.

Aftermarket reclinable seats generally do not sit you lower than stock, due to the universal nature of the rail and seat bottom.
Aftermarket bucket seats should always be used in conjunction with a roll bar and harness. -alex |

Also get a roll cage and have the harness mounted properly to it.

No personal experience but I know some 8th gen civic si guys (former si owner here) would run aftermarket rails on their stock seats just so that they would sit lower for track day helmets. Not sure if that's possible for our cars but something you may want to consider if being comfortable is a concern. |

There is a member on here that can lower the stock seats. It's done by modifying the brackets inside the lower seat cushion. IIRC it was $250 a seat and required you to ship your seats to them. They dropped them aprox 1".
