Firestorm/Lightning red spray can
had to find a spray can that matched our red to paint my TRD spoiler. Couldn't find C7P and I found the best one was Chrysler Flash Red that worked the best.
15$ for paint and sand paper. I feel pretty good saving 300 bucks ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Lorico; 03-05-2016 at 06:07 PM. |

Well, it looks like a $15 job if that's what you were going for.

Looks pretty good considering. A little flat but hey for 15 bucks not bad.
If you have one of the sherwin williams auto paint places they can paint match spray cans for around that 15/can if I remember correctly. they've done a pretty good job for me in the past, paint looks half decent and can look metallic too haha I did this car quickly with their paint! (crappy clear and large surfaces though). Hood, front bumper, skirts, spats. Naturally the hood looks flat and the skirts aren't perfect but considering how cheap everything was I was happy (car was 3k lol) ![]()

So you can afford a $30k car, but can't afford proper paint for a major exterior piece?
It's obviously a different shade in pictures, I can only imagine how off it looks in real life. ![]() |

But yea if you wanted to do it right should have gone with the paint much stuff and some clear! a little sanding and that can look pretty close to real paint for awhile until you can get some moneys for the real deal. All about that prep! This guy sprayed this bike with rattle can and clear, finished off with wetsanding and the like, has lasted him several years and what looks to be very well done work. ![]()

I used this place before. It's a single stage but they do have a clear coat also. For $20 it's worth it and it's exact color match.

I'm all for trying stuff out, but I think you should do it the right way if you're going to do it with a brand new car. Why not get a spray gun and make it look like the wing was actually meant to be on the car?

if you ever decide to have that painted for real, that all has to be stripped off. figure adding 2 more hours of labor to get it back to a usable surface.

I've painted pieces for my car before and because it's the dark blue with flake, I had to get it custom mixed. Luckily I live near an auto paint store and they can not only mix the paint but put it in spray cans for me.
I used a 2 stage paint, 1 can for the base color and 1 can for the clear coat. The result is perfect to say the least and I'm happy I went that way. There is the cheaper 1 stage option with the base and clear but it doesn't last as long and doesn't "pop" as much. Look up automotive paint in your area, there's sure to be a store like that, particularly in an industrial area with a lot of shops nearby. This is where I go for reference: Space Age Paint -RyanG |
