New to the FR-S Club

What's up all , new to the Forums here but I have been wanting to get into a FR-S or BRZ for a while now. Finally picked one up last week over at Toyota of Roswell NM. I'm currently stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso TX , US ARMY mostly mustangs and camaros around here the FR-S is few and far between. So far i'm loving the car , it's perfect and puts a smile on my face every time i drive it. Some previous tuner cars i have owned before are a 06 Suby STi , 06 WW Evo MR , and an 08 Evo GSR. I have been a member on Nasioc and also Evolutionm for years. I Look forward to learning more about this car with the forums and also meeting some new people here. I have a few aftermarket pieces coming in , Catback exhaust, Intake , and a few cosmetic pieces. Will update pictures later for people that might be interested in similar upgrades. For now here are some stock photos!

Old Evo !

Welcome!

I have a few quick questions.. Are there any particular reasons why you decided to move away from EVO's and give the FRS a shot?

I only ask because my coworker is an evo dude and always scoffs at the power of the FRS and cant understand why it is fun. I just figured I would get another persons perspective

Well i'm not sure what your friends definition of fun is? Launching his Evo or going fast in a straight line? because i know he cant get sideways haha. This is just more of a RAW sports car feel. it's also a Coupe. and imo all around better build quality than the Evo's and i have owned 3 Evos. The Evo was a great car and has great power from factory only because it comes with a turbo. I ended up taking the wing off because i just couldn't stand the whole boy racer feel. Interior was very cheap except the recaro seats Pre 08 Models. even the X the interiors were not the best unless you were paying in the 40k range. Basicaly put it like this, the Evo is a 100% pointless car unless you go to track it , you can't get sideways unless you convert to RWD which is stupid for the Evo. When i lived in Monterey CA, i used to go to Laguna seca alot so i had a good time with my Evos. Really wish i could take the FR-S there to track it would be a blast especially after a few months when i drop a turbo in this ( If the wife permits )

Congrats man, the car really is a beauty. Ex-Army myself so appreciate all you do. Enjoy modding the car, these cars really are fun to drive and you clearly get the point of the car and are not expecting a drag race car.

Oh you should have seen him when he got the launch control update thing to his ecu.. (He has an X) He would launch all over the place and look so proud doing it.. I have a hard time seeing the fun in letting a computer drive your car lol. And then yea straight line stuff I guess. He just speeds everywhere claims to get sideways "all the time" on the street. Idk I appreciate the car for what it is capable of but the reliability just kills me.. He has been crazy late to work and even missed full days because of that car. Hell ive seen it get flat bedded away from work twice! Its just funny that my 25 year old miata has only left me stranded once and that was due to a battery. Kind of hard to blame the car for that lol Anyways thank you for your response, it was very informative

Evo isn't meant to be a launch car so he just defeated the whole purpose behind the car. And he should have fun breaking his transfer case haha. By the way it sounds he doesn't take care of his car much.
