Exclamation Exhaust silencer

So this is going to sound really dumb. As I said in another post I have removed my resonater and muffler and I love it! I want to get a UEL header soon so my car will be even louder and I'm ok with that. The problem that I'll have and want a solution for is I don't want to be a **** at 5 in the morning by waking my neighbours up so I want to find a way to silence the car only during the morning cold start. Don't give me dumb sarcastic answers like "get a muffler" or "can't have your cake and eat it to".

what exhaust do you have? many have silencers for sale. pics?
A tune like oft can remove the negative timing that makes the cold start so loud. You can also lower the rpm too.

or just buy one from ebay.

Then don't ask dumb questions about how you can have your cake and eat it too.

you can make some tuning changes to reduce cold start volume

It only does this for emmissions purposes and to heat up cats.

Three things happen Idle is increased to 1700rpm
Additional Fuel is added by offsetting MAF scale during warm-up
Ignition Timing is retarded by 15 degrees during warm-up

The retarded timing is what makes most of the additional noise.
You may get CEL code P050B if so just disable it its due to ecu monitoring post start ignition timing.

To fix alter the “Ignition Timing Post Start” table under “Ignition Timing- Advance” folder .
Change all cells from -15 to -4 degrees and most of the noisy “bark” should be gone.

You can also reduce the “Idle control” “Idle control Target A” through to “Idle control Target E” tables reduce the values for idle that are over 1200 rpm to 1200 rpm.

The MAF adjustments can also be scaled back but those tables not in OFT definitions yet

Also in USA roms set CEL code P050B to disable else you will get a cel code for "post start inginition timing"

pics? or what tips/muff do you have? maybe a ebay silencer can fit. But realistically, if you remove cats/mufflers, its going to be loud. If there was a way to minimize sound levels without mufflers, the factory would have though of it, as it would save lots of weight and money.

My tips are 4" and I'm not looking for anything pertinent I'm just looking to have something to slip into the exhaust in the morning to make it sound almost stock and take it out when I'm out of the drive way

I would put the stock catback on, but have an electronic exhaust cutout welded in before the resonator in the midpipe. Close it for the cold start, and open it up when you leave the neighborhood. You'll have quiet and loud on command.

ebay all day. You don't need to drill a hole, just find one with two holes and put the screw on the inside to wedge/hold it on until you reach the end of the street. I have seen silencers fly! off though. Be careful.

Roll out in neutral without gas as soon as you turn on the car. The RPM will drop from cold right away...
