Spacers... Help!!

I just bought 2 half inch (12mm) spacers for the rear wheels since they are tucking, but when I put the wheel back on after the spacer is put on there is not enough thread for me to put the lug caps . How do I get them on ?

Purchase longer wheel studs, replace stock ones, or return spacers and buy ones with wheel studs in them.

thats because you need extended studs for any space thicker than 5mm. Or you can get spacers that have studs already bolted into them like mentioned above.

Or buy spacers manufactured with bolts in them, anything over 5mm will need longer wheel studs

do your research when buying spacers. Companies like H&r and ichiba (v1) sell application specific spacers that come with extended studs.

Old studs will need to be pressed out/new pressed in. Easiest done with the hub removed from the car. There are some nice write ups front/rear on this forum.

If you go with a spacer that has built in studs, again, DO YOUR RESEARCH. Stay away from that option if at all possible. There are far too many horror stories out there of people losing wheels going down the highway because of those.

Long story short, do your research, dont be cheap, measure twice, buy once.

I know two types of people that run bolt-on spacers:

1) people who don't check the torque specs of their spacers on a regular basis (or didn't install them correctly). These same people also never check their cars on a regular basis

2) those that are the opposite of #1

It's not an issue if you install and maintain properly. The horror stories are from neglect and ignorance.
