After cat-less header....
It seems common knowledge on the forum that a catless header is one of the best ways to free up extra power. It also seems common knowledge that replacing the over pipe, front pipe and mid pipe bring little gains if you plan to keep the secondary cat in the system. My question is as follows: after you install a catless header are there any other exhaust parts that will net you solid gains once tuned? Or is it best to install the catless header and tune the car with the rest of the exhaust stock?

Well, fp with catless header will net you appreciable gains over just catless header alone with tune, but after the cats, there won't be any appreciable gains.
Catbacks and axlebacks are aesthetic parts only used to improve visuals and exhaust note. That's it. Parts that hold the cats or are forward of the cats are your performance parts, of which the catless header (or a catless downpipe, if you're running turbo) is the most significant.

I agree that is the common knowledge. And thank you for your response.
Do we have any dyno information showing the net gains of a mid pipe after a catless header has a already been installed? Maybe catless header and stock mid pipe vs. catless header and test pipe. My search was unable to find something of that sort other than vendor dyon's, which I trust very little. |
