OFT 2.063 mileage.....

Jeebus, 27 MPG which is the highest I've ever gotten, and that included a lot of uphill passing lanes and hooliganism.

My car runs lean on that tune for some reason. I've been working on writing my own which is stable for a 90% stock car (I have just an AEM intake and cut snorkle) and using the 1.5x version tune.

Issue I see, Shifting after a 2nd gear pull creates knock as I enter 3rd. IAM drops to .88 in the 2.063 and .98 in the V 1.5x

Under "standard driving conditions" no knock is present in either tunes, so I am not certain of the issue shy of the snorkle causing HIGHLY turbulent air which makes any reliable tuning hard to do.

It will most likely be that the maf scaling is way off due to the AEM intake causing high fuel trims during cruise and light throttle and lean/rich conditions during WOT.

you will need to do Closed loop and open loop maf scaling.

If your on a stage 2 tune you may also have to richen up the OL fuel table over 5000 once maf scaling done and or pull some timing.

You're far more in to it than I am. Flash, go, eyeball the OFT for obvious distress, go some more. Butt dyno says that the latest tunes are not quite as stout as the early versions, but they are much more refined. I'm one of those idiots who thinks a stock FR-S is more than entertaining and learning to drive it well is more than part of the attraction, but I'm coming to the conclusion that I want is more torque. You can have your HP, torque is where the fun is. OFT header and some sort of super are in my future.

ETA: Props and kudos to Shiv and crew. It's rare to find a software shop that improves with every release.

reason: your AEM intake

As mentioned above, you'll need to modify your MAF scaling values at the very least to get the desired results.

Slightly off topic... Have you dyno'ed any twins with the TRD intake?

Yes I've dyno tuned a couple cars with the TRD intake. Works well and doesn't seem to have an effect on MAF calibration.

Is it safe to say that if you're LTFT are off, your MPG will suffer? My LTFTs have been off recently due to exhaust leaks but I've also noticed my MPG suffering. It takes a lot to make it to 27mpg whereas before it would do 33-34 easily.

You're o2 sensor isn't seeing the correct a/f of the engine, which it is likely injecting more fuel and running much richer then the o2 sensor sees. That's the reason you aren't getting good gas mileage, not because of your LTFTs. However, that does point out the exhaust leak is causing the ECU to react to that situation.

In a properly running car (without an exhaust leak), the LTFT could be off 20% and you can still get 30 mpg. It just means the ECU is doing what it's suppose to, which is compensating for something that is out of wack (typically maf scaling).

I'm just happy with the mileage. The highest I've ever gotten was 25 on the first full tank. It's usually no better than 22-ish, and 17 with E85. This tank included 100 miles of hiway with long uphill passing lanes and idiots to pass at every one. I'll be very interested to see what the result of this tank will be.
