It has happened.
Ok guys got another probably easily answerable question for you so hope you can help.
To preface this I will say I just did *MY* 1st oil change on this car I'm a little over 10000 miles. Before the stupid comments come, it had 5000 is on it when I got it and the dealer did the oil before I drove it off the lot. Anyways I was on my way home from work and I finally heard it, yep you know what I mean those stupid crickets. So my question is I have read this is supposed to be covered by warranty right? So where do I look to see if my car has been fixed or needs to be fixed. And does the fact that I'm not the original owner void the warranty (I got it from carmax) If I'm totally wrong about this please let me know, BC I know it's not a big deal and it's a part of owning this car but it is kind of frustrating that it wasn't happening till after I changed the oil. Any help you guys can give I appreciate so thanks in advance. ![]() I know there's at least 100 other threads on this already so forgive me for not wasting the next 3 weeks of my life reading however many 1000s of posts on it lol

It's not going to harm your car. You can try to get it replaced under warranty, but until there is a legitimate fix, the problem will come right back. Don't even waste your time.

No correlation that I've heard of\seen between oil changes and the HPFP cricket issue.

As has been said many times before, use ethanol free gasoline and the problem will go away. Yes it's more expensive. Up to you to decide if the extra $10 when filling up is worth it to get rid of the sound.

I don't know why this bothers so many people. My 2015 in the first couple months got the crickets in under 2000 kilometres. I wasn't even phased once I found out it was normal.
It's not worth the time replacing the fps by the dealer since as was mentioned before people have had them come back right after replacement. |

It'll ruin your life..(the crickets & trying to fix them) just let it go and get used to them. I say this in a positive way, honestly.. There's really no way to avoid this and unless you want to spend your life risking the dealership damaging something else while trying to fix this, just ignore them.

I will summarize the 10,000+ posts on this for you (I have read them all I am sure)!
Use no ethanol fuel - Works for some but not others (this is what seems to work for me) Tune for E85 - Many people swear by this but the fuel needs to be available. Add any number of different oils - Seems to work for some but also doesn't seem to be a permanent fix and they come back Get the fuel pump changed - Every month or so somebody posts that there is a "new" pump out. Very rare (if ever) does it change anything for long. Some guys are on 5 or 6 changes and still have issues. Waste of time and money (we all pay eventually it isn't "free". However... some day they may actually make a change that works but since so many people have cried wolf we may be a while before we believe it. Move to where it is cold all the time - There is a certain correlation between temperature and crickets. They do not like the cold. Wait them out - Many say they eventually go away. Learn to live with them - They are not the end of the world and actualy you eventually just don't notice until they are gone. Bring in a voodoo witch doctor/priest to do exorcism - As good a chance of working as any!

Propel E85 makes mine go away, pump gas brings them right back. It has more to do with he additive package the particular brand uses than anything else.

Please, there is no point in changing the fuel pumps to get rid of the crickets. Crickets live on forever in our cars.

Hey OP, I'm in NC too...grew up in the foothills now reside in the triangle. Congrats on putting 1K on your FR-S!
My car just hit the 2 year mark (I bought it new) and if I recall, I didn't hear crickets until the first warmer months of the Spring that first year. Typically I only hear them during warmer times...and I do think that switching up fuel makes a difference...there is a certain BP station that I try use most often and I get the best results. But to be honest, when they are there I barely notice anymore. It's because of this that I have not taken the car into dealer for this issue and don't plan to do so.
