Bluetooth Mic Placement in 86?

Hey guys,

Does anyone know where the 86 with have its Bluetooth MIC placed?

Or is it just built into the head unit?

The reason I ask is that in my 2008 Corolla, the Bluetooth MIC was on the actual head unit, and the road noise would drown out my voice while driving, making me really hard for others to hear me on the phone.

Is it the same crappy setup in the 86? Or have they put the MIC somewhere better?

Hmm, do you guys in the states have the same headunit we do for our GTS model?

The reason I ask, is there is a little slit on the top right hand side of the unit, which looks exactly like the MIC on my headunit in the Corolla from 2008:

I think US BRZ Limited has a similar unit as our GTS.

Hmm well hears hoping its next to the lighting dome in the roof.

I just remember trying to talk to people in the Corolla and no one could ever hear me, and if I spoke louder it would just distort further.

Rubbish setup.

I can't find it right now, you could try find the BRZ owner manual that is online somewhere.

The RAV4 one is really bad. iPhone on speaker sounds better.

Different countries get their own audio units, which are installed in that country. So don't bother looking at a US spec unit or you may waste time, its a bit different.

The Australian spec units are the same as fitted to other Australian delivered cars (HiLux, Rav4, Corolla etc).

The mic is on the actual unit, behind the small hole in the facia.

These modern audio units are basicaly a computer, and suport software updates at a Toyota dealership. There have been many Bluetooth concerns over the last 5 years and most are fixed at the dealer with software update or exchange unit. The current spec has adjustable volume and gain settings for the mic, so it is more user tuneable than the 2008 spec.

This new Sat Nav unit in the GTS was first released in the SR5 Hilux update in Australia last year and the Bluetooth quality was instantly improved. We tested it with a range of phones and we found that majority were using iPhones - which improved sound clarity the most. Hopes this helps although if any GT owners would like a Factory Sat Nav unit I will be replacing mine with my Alpine unit so send me a PM we can talk about it......They will integrate with all factory functions
