Video Request: Stock OEM Exhaust + Catless Header + Catted FP

Looking for sound and video clips of this exact setup:

Aftermarket catless header + catted FP + OEM Stock catback exhaust.

ie:
Nameless/JDL catless header + stock or high-flow catted FP + OEM exhaust.

Why?

- I need/want at least ONE cat; primarily for less rasp/noise and also less stink.
- I want that 1 cat preferably on the FP; as most of the power gains from removing a cat, comes from a catless header.
- OEM exhaust because I like it quiet and close to stock look and sound. I do not want any aftermarket catback exhaust at all. And no significant power gains come from catback exhausts (unless you're turbo).

Another good reason to keep stock exh - it retains the smooth flowing, rear underbody section and diffuser aerodynamics, designed by the engineers.

I don't have a video to provide, but I was running the OpenFlash Header (uncatted), catted/resonated Nameless over/front pipe combo, and the stock catback for a while. It barely sounds any different from all stock, just a tad, and I mean a TAD, louder, mostly noticeable on cold start and WOT.

I'm not one for loud exhausts, but I want to actually hear something when I step on the go pedal. The above setup was too quiet for my tastes, and the problem with an uncatted header is that once you swap out your catback, things get really loud (and raspy), even with a cat/resonator in the front pipe. You're pretty much limited to either the stock catback or a Q300 or something, depending on your tolerance to the sound of course. My single-exit Tanabe, marketed as their "quiet" solution, sounds awful and stupid loud in front of an uncatted header.

Uncatted header is the best route for performance increases, but it also definitely limits what you can do in terms of getting a good sound out of your exhaust. Just something to keep in mind.

I have a catless JDL EL header + stock setup and can provide a video for you. What are you looking for? I have some in car go pro footage of me at a track day.

I think you'd find the combo of a catless header + HFC FP w/ resonator and a quiet catback could satisfy your criteria. @ATL_BRZ's videos have proven this with his setup.

Stock exhaust sound like a tin can with that suggested setup... I know this cause I ran my car like that for a bit. If you want to keep it quiet and make it sound nice, get a q300.

Here it is. It seems to be a bit quiet, I dont record video on my phone often. This is on a half cold start, you can tell when the overlap stops. the blips at the end are up to about 2k rpm

Thanks for your insight. Sounds exactly what I'm looking for!

And thx for the tips on how headers drastically affect aftermarket catback exh sounds (already knew that..but thx). But, I don't ever never ever want one again anyways

I had non-stop exhausts for 10-15 years back in the day. I was younger then and didn't care as much. Heck, even then, I still found loud exhs to be annoying on occasion whenever I wanted to be lo-pro. It's something I don't want anymore. I mean it's cool and all for a short while or hearing someone else that has it ..but day after day, 24/7, for years, it gets old, real fast. I remember I was so happy to get a Tacoma after my ricer years. It was super nice having a quiet car.

Any videos are always welcome

..but, preferably, I'd love to see "drive-bys" (ie: cam on the side/side walk as you drive by) in diff throttle positions (balls out WOT, mid throttle, cruise, coast, etc.)

Yes...that's what I'm kinda afraid of. Not really the "tin can" sound per se ..but more, the raspy, loud straight piped, race car, kinda sound (but i don't think it'll get too raspy with 1 cat on the FP..or so I hope).

Q300 is cool and quiet ...but it's still bassy honestly. I def don't want a bassy exh. Bass frequencies carry through houses and walls much much more easily than high pitch sounds.

Nice. I dig.

..jus a little bit louder than what I was expecting though honestly. But still..it sounds good.

This is how it sounds with the Q300, yes its bassy, but not really loud at all.
