Winter and stuck window help

For some reason when it gets cold here (below 30° F) my window seems to get stuck. Not when I try to roll it down but when I open the door. The motor makes a noise as of the window went down but the window doesn't move. I'm afraid to roll The Window down when This happens. Has anyone else gone through this? is this something I should take to the dealer, I'm still under warranty.

Perpetual problem with this car. According to Scion (Canada) there is no fix.

I need to reprogram the windows a dozen times a winter and must continually be checking for either window to be in the down position when the door is closed. If it does not close, the only option is to go back in the car and reprogram by rolling the window all the way down, hold, then all the way up and hold for a bit. Easy, but a nuisance.

Failure to catch the window down:

I find if you run the corner of a credit card between the bottom of the window and the rubber (before opening the door) the window usually doesn't get stuck or make scary noises. I start the back of the door and work my way to the mirror.

If your window light is flashing, it's needs reprogramming. Reprogramming your window directions are in your manual. Look in the appendix for the page. I can't remember what it is specifically.

And ^^^ hahaha! I know exactly how you feel, I usually can't brush all the snow off the seats either but it's usually cold enough that I can sit on it a not have it melt before I get to work.

That seems like a decent solution. ...as long as it's not damaging the felt wipers.

Everyone's seen the 2 vertical clean lines on the outside of the window. There are 2 felt guides/spacers down in there just under the sill (I think that's what it's called) which absorb water and freeze up. They seem pretty delicate.

I guess some little rollers would have been too expensive to use there.

Do you need to reset your windows when this happens? If so, there's a TSB. Happened to me last year during the polar vortex.

It is pretty predictable: If it snows it happens. You get used to it.

How about this stuff... water repellent for rubber and is a dry silicone spray. Can't go wrong with 3M. Made for cars.

Yup. Silicone spray. I've used it for decades on all rubber around doors and trunk.
Windows on my GT86 operates flawlessly in -30°C.

I still haven't had it happen even once. I have had coats of ice on there that would have had my Lancer stuck solid and every time I think "here we go" push the button and down (and back up) they go.
Maybe just lucky or the changed stripping actually works. I have no idea which.

That's amazing. I'm actually envious.

Pretty sure half the people don't believe me but it is the honest truth!
The funny part is that NOHOME lives just a few blocks away so we can't even say that the weather has been different.
