Crawford BPB CEL P0171

I installed my BPB and then tuned it with the OpenFlash Tablet on the BPB 91 tune. I started it and it reved to about 2k on idle and then fluctuated between 500-1500 just spiking and then the CEL came on and it's been 2 days since install? Is this normal? Please help

Definitely not normal. I use the 91 BPB beta maps and have had no CEL or idling issues. Maybe check if the rubber O-rings are in place?

Before redoing everything look at the back of the manifold and see if any vacuum lines popped off. If not then your vacuum leak is some where else

I checked that and at first it wasn't on all the way so I replaced it with a longer one that is actually better then the stock one, but yeah I think it is one of the gaskets got tweaked when I was trying to install them

Any chance you could maybe post the engine trouble code?
"CEL" is pretty generic.

It is more likely the result of the tune, or the OFT than the BPB.
Revert to the first ROM and see if the problem goes away.

I have gotten "CELs" just from an OBD communication error while being plugged into the OBD port.

What else have you changed other than the BPBs?

From what I have read you should be able to add the BPB with no issues whatsoever.
After installation, the tune is required to get the advertised hp increase, but the car should be fine on the stock tune.

I second the air leak theory.

I have a throttle body spacer, aem cold air intake, Borla UEL headers borla catback. I have never had a problem with this until I installed the BPB. I have ran for months with the other parts just fine. So idk wouldn't the cel code tell me if there was a leak?

Try the trick where you spray starter fluid around the intake area.

If you find a leak you will hear the engine noise change.

Other fluids can work to: engine cleaner, even water.
Some fluids will bog the motor down, others will make it speed up.

Whatever you decide to spray, spray some directly into the intake first so you know how the engine responds when it does get some.
Then spray around the base of the throttle body and the BPBs.

Most of the time this test is inconclusive, but works some of the time.

U have a vacuum leak. There is no vacuum leak codes. There is only lean and rich codes. Since ur leak is after the maf sensor the ecu isn't sure how to properly add fuel thus flagging system lean

I would suggest getting some spray adhesive and glueing the o rings to the blocks before reinstall and don't reuse a damaged oring since u probably pinched one of them
