Afe Pro Dry S air filter users
I replaced my Cosworth air filter with an afe Pro Dry S and had some problems with fitment. It clearly marks FRONT on the flat side of the filter instead of the side with the air filter element protruding. However I couldn't easily close up the air box this way. Upon switching the FRONT side to face the rear, everything snugly jsut went into place... The protruding air filter element is now facing forward. The Cosworth had a corner notch to help with placement and its air filter element also faces forward.
Anyone ran into this situation? |

I've read that people have had success installing it with the "front" side facing the rear, but I have mine installed with the "front" facing front and it seems to fit fine (very snug but fine). So, I'm still somewhat confused by this...

I want to say that I read somewhere that this filter was designed for a different Toyota, with a reverse airbox direction, so the "front" would be correct in that application. Then the twins come along with the same air filter but mounted backwards, so aFe puts a different car sticker on the box and now we're here. I could have just dreamed all of that though. Mines mounted backwards but it fits like a glove that way, so whatever.

Hey im installing my afe pro dry filter today. Is this confirmed about the fitment that the front actually faces the rear? And if its flipped wont that affect the air flow?

Im not sure how it would affect airflow since it isn't directional.

Ok so that was just a misprint on afe putting the front text there? What if i get it to work with the front facing front? I guess ill just compare it to the stock filter
