Mine has had a decent amount in there for the past 2000 miles, haven't seen any falling out. Will probably require some high G turns lol

I can't speak for everybody else, but mine does not do that. Make sure the mounting surface is clean (grit builds up in there) when changing the filter and make sure you get a nice bit of oil around the new filter gasket ring.

No it's not normal if it was clean when the filter was installed, it means there's a leak. Remove the filter, clean the surface and O-ring, re-lube and re-install.
On the other hand if there was oil there when you changed the filter and it was never wiped clean, then yes that would be expected.

I've never noticed that. I do my own oil/filter changes and only use the Subaru black filter and always rub some oil on the rubber ring and install the filter only hand tight. What filter are you using?

BTW, some have reported similar leaks with the K+N filter:

I don't have that. Mines has been clean, since the first oil change and oil changes since. But I do my own oil changes could be someone wasted some and neglected to clean up afterwards and if so its normal, otherwise might have a leak.

Not supposed to happen, but the catch plate is there in case it does... not a big issue, just make sure you lube up the O-ring next time and tighten as much as you can with your bare hands only (no tools)

I wouldn't worry about a little bit seeping out over the course of several months/thousand miles.
If you don't do your own oil changes it could be buildup since you got the car as a tech has little incentive to wipe down the interface or use a dab of oil on the rubber seal, and I've had terrible luck with techs not tightening or over-tightening things, both could lead to seepage. If your really bothered by it you can pull the filter off wipe down in there and reinstall it and keep an eye on it. |

I inspected this on my car and I do not have this.
Currently have on a Toyota Oil Filter (literally branded Toyota) that is black.
