Beat Sonic Whiteout Does not Match

Hey guys,

I purchased the Version 2 beat sonic for the whiteout fr-s on ebay, and it does not match. I'm not sure if its the new version making it not match.

Apparently, im screwed because they (vendor) think my car paint has oxidized, when i had purchase purchase the car less than 3 months ago... and beat sonic themselves told me to contact seller

I'm not sure what to do... there is slight color difference... and its bugging me..

Moral of the story: Do not buy the version 2 beat sonic antenna for the whiteout T_T

Pictures? Is the paint on the sharkfin darker or lighter? White is the hardest color to match as it reflects the most light. You can also repaint it. But even if you buy the right color, how do you know it will match? You don't. It is because of primer, spray pattern, etc is not the same as the factory and any variance, even thickness of coats will produce a slightly different color.

Real moral of the story: don't buy on ebay and expect any customer service or returns.

I bought the item because it states that it matches the factory color..

i am not the most experienced car person, but i don't think i wouldve known not to buy a white car because it would never be 100% when i buy other parts...

id expect beat sonic being a reputable company do something about it, and say that it matches Satin White Pearl / Whiteout (FDA9-37J), when it clearly doesnt...

Maybe they should state it doesnt match 100% instead of telling me it matches.. *false advertising

"Pre-painted and color matched to Subaru and Scion models for an exact match in color using high quality OEM paint."

fuck, reading that sentence pisses me off..

from the looks of it the antenna is paint-matched to the new "whiteout" aka subarea's Crystal White Pearl or i believe halo as its called on the scion side.

I mean this for your sake and not to be rude, but if you're going to buy pricier items like car parts from eBay, and other websites where you can't verify if someone is, or isn't an official distributor for the company that make the part, you're going to have to expect this. That's pretty lame that they tote it being an OEM, factory color match when it's blatantly off like that.

We have a lot of high-quality, reliable, and trustworthy vendors here on the forum, and most of them are sincerely offering you the best price that you can get for the item. If you're seeing the same item for significantly cheaper on eBay, it's certainly not because the sellers on eBay have your best interests in mind, and somehow have the resources to reduce the price below that of a quality, established business can offer you.

I always make sure that I understand the return policy if I'm making an online purchase - again, most of the vendors here on the forum have exceptional customer service, and will work with you to help solve any issue(s) you're having with a product you've purchased from them, and are willing to refund, or replace your order if anything is amiss with it.

But I understand at this point none of that is really helping you - if you're unhappy with it, you could try selling it to someone who maybe isn't bothered by the color being off, or someone that has the 2015 white if you think it's a better match to that. Did other people have this issue with the whiteout Beatsonic antenna? AFAIK the Beatsonic antennas are fairly popular, and I don't recall people having an issue with the paint on them, but if someone did then maybe they can offer you insight as to what they did about it.

It looks like you put it on the car already, so I'm not sure if this is an option for you - but you could try having a reputable shop add another layer or two of paint to it. I think I remember reading an anecdote from a painter (here on the forum) that the whiteout color takes several coats of paint (more than any of the other colors) to come out right (which might explain the increased price for that color), so maybe it just needs to get another layer, or so painted onto it in order to be a closer match.

Man, I think the Whiteout color is absolutely stunning, but I don't envy the struggles with the paint matching that I so often see threads about

There are at least two shades of white that I know of, satin white pearl and crystal white pearl or something like that, for the BRZ. Not sure if FRS has it's own unique white or if it matches one of those. The shark fin may be matched to one while you have the other.

If i remember correctly these are sold on Amazon as prime items with free 2 day shipping, if you have a prime account. Even if you don't, Amazon has great customer service and return policy. For next time, I would reccomend using them if they have the item you want.

I'm running into similar problems with WRB on the BRZ. When I see a product prepainted with WRB, I specifically ask which WRB (07X or 02C) and the paint code they used if possible. Take it as a lesson learn and try to squeeze as much info from the retailer/seller before purchasing.

you're talking about a color that is almost impossible to match while having the actual car in front of you to match test panels and custom mixes with. its only going to get so close when someone is just shooting a large batch of parts with the standard formula. i had probably 10 custom mixes and test cards before i got a close enough match to work with for whiteout here at my shop.

so its very hard to go into a shop to paint my antenna?

I was about to buy a bodykit and have it painted, would that idea be out the door as well?

I am not good with colors,, but it looks a little blue to me. aka 2015 colors. I think they just sent you the wrong one. Is there a part number/label on the box?

^did you not read my post after the op? It's will never match perfect if you are very very picky. I would suggest looking for a shop that can repaint the sharkfin, and if they can get it right(in your eyes), I would use them to paint a body it.

If you leave them the car and they actually know how to tint their paint system properly you shouldn't have an issue

Wait, you bought the car less than 3 months ago, so it's a 2015? So it came with a sharkfin from the factory (why would you change it)? Cause that really looks like a SWP antenna on a CWP car...
