Your most amazing vs most humiliating moments in your brz

Got my BRZ just over a week ago and have already had some incredible moments, topped off with horrible failure, so I thought I'd see if anyone else has any stories to share.

Amazing as in you did something abnormally cool/skillful, preferably with onlookers, or just anything that stands out in your memory in a positive way.

Humiliating as in you made some kind of error, had mechanical failure, wrecked, or just plain clumsiness.

Give an example of either one, or both, whichever you prefer.

I'll obviously start.

Amazing- Having just gotten the car and accidentally drift a turn, realize how easy it is, and begin to do it at will at a couple select turns near my house. I remember one in particular where I slid around the turn sideways, swiveled a little while burning out, and straitening out and continued down the road with a couple cars far enough to be safe but close enough to see.

Humiliating- Doing it in the rain and accidentally giving it what I would when it's dry, doing a complete 180, deer in headlights and let it stall as it screeches to a stop, car won't start, cars start coming. Luckily I put on my flashers, got it started, and got out of the way, but it was mortifying none the less.

I haven't drifted since...

This thread has the potential to devolve into a massive argument about street drifting/public endangerment/etc...

In my case, it was only a few weeks after I got the car that I put my winter tires on. These are new winter tires, so they still have that mold release agent on them, making them extra slick... not to mention that the day after I put them on it got up into the 50s. Couple that with wet pavement because it was drizzling and I was basically driving on drift tires. I decided to see just how slick they were, so I turned the aids off, and at the next intersection, decided to do a little right turn drift. I completely underestimated how little grip the rear tires had, and proceeded to completely spin out (the answer is, they basically had NO grip whatsoever.) I ended up basically facing the curb, about a foot away from it (very lucky I didn't hit it and tear off the front lip or screw up the bumper), pointing in the opposite direction I was going before I made the right turn. Basically, instead of a 90 degree turn, I had made a 180 degree turn.

There were no cars on the right, or I would not have even attempted it, but there were two cars that had been facing me at the intersection before I had made the turn. I was COMPLETELY embarrassed, and hung my head in shame as I slowly accepted the fact that I looked, and was acting, exactly like an idiot boy racer. Those two cars were not impressed either. One honked at me, and both of them went around me without letting me back up.

Needless to say I ate some humble pie that evening.

amazing moments are far too many... first time I "raced" a car on the highway, the endless let's race bro encounters, fellow subie fan recognitions, constant compliments on the ride.

most embarrassing moment? stalling the car on a hill 3 times the first week I had it...

New to the forum so I apologize if I'm bringing up a taboo subject.

That sounds exactly like what happened to me though, the only difference being there weren't cars right in front of me, but one on its way down the road with me pointed straight at it. This just caused an increasing sense of dread like a shark approaching as you struggle to get on the boat. I was frantically jamming the starter button begging it to let me get out of there. I got to the center of the medians just in time. Humble pie indeed.

I was already embarrassed doing this as it is, I'm far too old for it, but after I got a taste the thrill was too intense to resist. I chalk it up to still being in the new toy phase before settling into daily driving. It will pass.

Most amazing - Catching a patch of ice at the beginning of a sweeping on ramp, thats when i learned how much control this car really has!

Most embarrassing - (after a corrolla stopped on an on-ramp yield sign) stalled trying to smoothly pull out in front of traffic, luckily i didnt get far. I still panicked and gunned it, determined not to stall. I did the opposite and peeled out side ways into the next available gap and spun for nearly 50 ft after on the ice -__- again happy this car is so controllable.

Got my car a month and a half ago so I havent had that much either xD

But yesterday night driving home from work, a Blue series BRZ flashed me from behind, drove up next to me and we all just waved with smiles xD His friend was actually taking a picture or recording a video, I'm not sure. Wonder if they're on here lol

Amazing: Winning consecutive regional autocross championships in my first two years of competition.

Humiliating: At an autocross school (where I was an instructor for drivers of the twins) I lost control in my own car, spun, and hit a giant rock. It looked really bad but I only did minimal damage. My "students" were a little nervous after that! Lol

Amazing: Pulling off a flawless downhill "canyon" run (on a closed and controlled course under supervision of a race official, of course) against a 370Z. He took me in the straights and we battled it out in the corners and it was beautiful. Stopped and had a chat when we wrapped up about 20m later.

Awkward: Having a kid come up to me asking about my Ferrari, and having to disappoint him and advise it's just a Subaru.

Amazing: Just for being on of the very very few that has this type of car where I live. Most people just want to talk and always makes me feel good.

Humiliating. Pretty much the whole first week I had the car since I was learning how to drive a manual and I stalled a lot haha.

Amazing - The smiles on passengers faces when whipping the tail out on a turn. It's almost fool proof.

Humiliating - Flew into a long left turn, thinking "This will be fun!" Tail came out, overcorrected and almost launched into the curb.

I guess all I do is slide the tail.

Amazing: Recovering from potential bad situations at the track because the car is so predictable.

Humbling: Getting out accelerated by a Sienna in order to get onto the highway.

My favorite triumph was probably when some kid in a FRS pulled up beside me and started revving his engine (I think he had a Tomei exhaust too because it was REALLY loud), it became pretty clear when the light turned green who was boosted and who was not.

(All on the streets of Mexico of course)

I had to google to find out what a Sienna was.. it's a mini van.. that is embarrassing lol. At first I had 0 complaints with the car, but after some time with the car you can include me in the "wish it had more power" crowd. Hoping the OFT makes as dramatic a difference as people claim.

Did the exact same thing, 1 day apart, myself LOL. Gave the same flick in the rain and it swapped ends super fast. Got on the clutch and brakes and once stopped kicked it in 1st and took off right away without missing a beat .

Another few awesomes. Autocrossed only once in my life. Only regional so no one really good, but i beat a bunch of veterans with cars I would imagine are much better then mine with great tires, while i was on the stock Primacy. Didn't miss a gate or any thrown out runs. Also on my last and fastest run, hit a cone, knew I hit it because I heard the big clunk, kept on with the run. Get back to the board and see no penalties. From my bud who was there, I hit it, it shot straight up and landed back in the square. Better lucky then good .
