which would you choose for weekend driver and as an investment?
I've got my heart set on getting a Pantera, prices are going up FAST. It won't be long before I can't afford one.
63-67 vettes seem to have held their value over time, but remained stable at the same prices for years. SO, which would you buy for a fun weekend driver, and that I could sell for as much, or more than I paid today for it? I know investing, or keeping the money in the bank is probably better, but I want to "park" some of my money where I can enjoy it over the years, and get what I paid (or more) in 5-10 years if I decided to sell it. Also considering nice AC Cobra replicas, just not sure about their ability to hold their value over time. I'm just killing time until the end of the month til I can go look at the blue Pantera race car I'm planning on buying if it all checks out. Any thoughts? |

All original matching vins highest models gain the most value. regular models pretty slow moving. people who loved these cars when they were kids can now can afford them.
66-67 stingray 427 is my choice. Red, black or silver?. What do you mean by fun weekend driver? what kind of fun? cruise? tour? shows? track?(1/4, circuit) how much fun?(safety/reliability/investment) why can't you keep the brz in addition to new purchase? pantera your favorite car? Neither. I would buy a 90-2000s NSX. I think you would enjoy driving it a lot more, and it will retain its value well over time.

I would also go for an NSX, or put a down payment on a base model Alfa 4c (not the $70k+ intro version). Their limited availability will likely cause them to skyrocket later in life, and hopefully be loads of fun to drive.

Main plan is to buy the Pantera race car, but i have to wait til the end of the month to go see it and buy it (probably) and in the meantime, I'm scoping out 63-67 vettes and other Panteras.
I live 2o minutes from Sears Point, so it's a sin not to own a race car lol. Here's a pic of the race Pantera |

Main plan is to put the race Pantera back on the street for some gnarly weekend jaunts, and use the car for track days and autocross.
Still though, with the time I have to wait, I'm considering other cars, but the only two that really light my fire are the nice Cobra Replicas, or the old 63-67 vettes. Lotus 7's outperform all these other cars, but I can't see spending that much on such a dinky little car lol. I was wondering which car might increase in value over time as I enjoyed owning and driving said car. Sold the BRZ because I only want to keep one hotrod, not enough garage space. Not making any decisions until I see the race Pantera, that's the car I want as long as it checks out. |

Yup.
I'd be down for an NSX or FD RX7.

If you can find a 993 911, that would be a good get as well, but prices are already climbing. Any air-cooled Porsche will probably be a gainer. You could try and get a 996 since prices are very low and hope it'll eventually be more loved. I doubt the 996 will drop much further. For Japanese offerings, I'd echo others here with the NSX or FD recommendations.

Already went the Porsche route, too expensive and not fire-breathing enough.
NSX's are cool, I'd have to think about getting one of those, hmmm, not sure. Hopefully going to look at a dream-car hoard with ten 63-67 vettes, smallblocks, bigblocks, along with a bone stock Pantera with 27k miles, all kept in an environmentally controlled warehouse since 1977. Still, I think I'd rather have the race Pantera, returned to street use, it's much more unreasonable like myself. I just have to wait til the end of the month to see that one. In the meantime, I'm going to look around. Thanks for the replies. |

I'd try and find a clean Fiat Dino.
Either the coupe or spider, they're both beautiful. They have a legit Ferrari V6 engine and can still be had for around $30k. ![]() ![]()
