Quick Question
If I run a 93 oct tune and I put 98 oct in my car will it hurt it or will it just run better? And one more question if I do a e85 tune and I put 93 oct will it harm the car.

As for the first question it shouldn't hurt anything. Second question is yes….if it even runs.

The odds of your tune being that finely done for 93 are slim though. Mostly you'd just be wasting money on the more expensive gas.

Depending on what you use to tune, you'd give yourself a pump map and a mixed map or two, or just flex fuel. I have 2 pump maps (all 93, and 50/50 mix) just in case I get caught out somewhere, but luckily I've never had to use either yet. |

From my limited knowledge. Yes you can and many people do. However, when you introduce e85 into a boosted engine you start to demand of your car more power and greater fuel needs than your stock injectors can handle. Many boosted cars running pump gas don't get to this point which is why their is not a need to change the injectors.

Yes. But where you are at power-wise now, you should not. You'd have to turn your boost down to run E85 at this point. Until you upgrade your pump and injectors, don't change a thing: leave your boost alone and stick with 93 octane.
I was responding to your thought of avoiding E85 because of its availability in your area. If you have no desire to upgrade your fuel system, yes, ignore E85. |
