Dreading the thought of this snow and salt on my exhaust!

This snow and salt on the east coast is crucial! I'm cringing at the thought of my Greddy evo2 exhaust rusting 😫

Definitely try to keep the salt rinsed off your exhaust if you can. As an example, I had a GReddy Evo3 on my car here on Long Island where we don't use salt, and was able to keep it relatively clean. I ended up selling it to another forum member in New Jersey where they use salt, and in a very short amount of time, the damn thing was covered and looked pretty beat. Of course, you could always get it cleaned up and polished again, but if you can avoid the salt from staying on there for prolonged periods of time to begin with, you'll make life easier.

Yea I think I'll just go to the car wash and have it rinsed off. Good advice! Thanks

I bought a season pass for a touchless carwash and wash my car at least once a week. Some people are all like "ohhh the soap is to harsh" but it is a crap load better then the salt. Just don't get the wax option as I understand it can build up.

Up north, don't they have the undercarriage wash in the car washes? They don't have those down here, but occasionally it would be nice to rinse the bottom.

Yep. And with the thin steel and such little sound proofing in the floor it sounds and feels like you are driving over Old Faithfull!

Stainless can still rust, and there are many different grades of stainless alloys.
http://www.imoa.info/molybdenum-uses...lt-article.php

However, if you wash your car regularly, just give the underside a good rinse or go through one of those car washed w/ underside rinses on a regular basis. I wouldn't worry too much about rust on your exhaust, it's not going to corrode that much in one season. You can always re-coat it w/ high temp paint in spring/summer.

The GReddy catbacks get surface rust pretty fast when exposed to the winter road salt. I bought the Evo3 (reported to be 304 Stainless) in October, sold it to another forum member in January, and after being exposed to NJ Salt for a month, it was covered in surface rust.

Pretty sure he was able to polish it up before selling it to someone else, but that right there was pretty conclusive proof that it gets bad even within one season.

Just get an undercarriage wash whenever the roads dry up and pray for the best. Take some metal polish to it in March if you're worried about it.

Undercarriage wash is in most of the touch less car washes here in PA and they get backed up all day for about a week after a storm. The brine/salt/ice melt Penn dot uses is brutal

We have undercarriage - I get it done on the 4Runner at the Shell off I-35 we stopped at. It's nothing fancy, but does enough.
