A different kind of build...(model BRZ)

My sister thought it was a good idea to get childhood toys for the family gift exchange. I was always known for building models as a kid (actually, let's face it, I still built them way into college), so my sister got me a BRZ from Tamiya.

Tamiya BRZ, how it's supposed to be...

One weekend in and I've already made some leeway. I really don't make them according to the instructions...

I had a bugeye STi rally car model from a while ago that I lost parts to, so it became the donor car for a lot of the go fast bits. BBK, wheels, v-mount intercooler/radiator, FIA-spec cage, and Recaros came from the STi. It was amazing how so many of the parts worked well together. Motor came from and old Supra model, but all the exhaust and intercooler plumbing will be custom made by melting the sticks that the parts come one (manifold and downpipe already done). Wish I would have gotten the STi concept model, but I'm going to make the rest of the STi lip kit with flat bottoms. I'm going to use SWP touchup paint to spray it to match my car (which will hopefully look like this someday)

My car:

This will be the fourth in my collection of "Cars with 6-pots that originally came with 4"

That's pretty sweet, I haven't tried my hands at a modified build of a model (well far as cars go). I did want to add more detail to my engine bay like wires and hoses, but I can't find something good to simulate it.

Thanks! You know what works best for me is some old household telephone wire. I found some at my parents back in the day that was round and tan in color. Inside it are thin wires you can use. Also, the outer sheathing works perfect for intercooler couplers (the turbo inlet has one stuck on there for when I do plumbing later) You can also use the wires inside CAT5 cable, too. Sometimes I even pull the copper out of the casing to make an even smaller wire.

That's awesome, wish I had the patience for model cars. Mine would always come disastrous.
