Iknownothingaboutcars

HEY guys its me again!

I just bought a brand new BRZ and I know nothing about cars! Its ok though all of you lovelies are here to help right?

I am looking to make a simple upgrade to my BRZ, and then spend a little more on some kind of performance package after I drive it around for a year or maybe 10k-20k miles.

So as for within the next few months, new wheels and tires seemed like a simple upgrade from stock. Is this a good idea? or should I invest 1000-2000 dollars in something else for now?

If getting a new set of wheels/tires seem like a good idea, what kind should I invest in? I am looking for wheels that are tried and true or that you have personal experience with, that are known to work well with the BRZ.

Thanks folks,

Amongst

EDIT: forgot to mention this is my daily driver? only car I own but the drive to work is barely a few miles, but still I want to keep things fairly reasonable I guess

Have you looked at the stickied "wheel directory"? You should browse that first see what attracts you. Then go from there as there are tons of choices.

^ this! Lowered a little, front camber bolts, and Corner3garage spacers for $100 and it really enhances the platform's overall stance and vibe. Wheels and rims then can come.

(link to Whiteline Camber bolts + spacers for $137. Really hard to beat)

Are you female? If so, you should've stated in the beginning. More people will help you out.

My advice would be to drive the car as it is for now until you read some articles and learn what you want to do. Unless you have cash to burn, I wouldn't spend the money because people say it's good for your car. Knowledge will save you money, if you care.

I am guessing intake/exhaust/tune.

My path so far as been:
stock
k/n drop in air filter and perrin inlet tube ($200)
openflash tablet (tuning) ($500)
openflash header ($600)
RCE springs ($300)
Grimmspeed strut bar ($150)

the intake/tuning/headers provide power, sound, engine response. The springs will lower slightly and help the car to handle better overall. springs first, wheels and brakes next.

Get whatever mod you want, and don't listen to people who tell you what you want to do is wrong. Although, I'd recommend, doing wheels AND suspension at the same time is the best way to go. That way, you're only setting it up once. Within about a week of owning my car, I bought an exhaust, intake, coils, rear LCAs and wheels. Put the intake and exhaust on already, waiting for the spring for suspension stuff. Then I'll probably be getting a header and tune.

TL;DR, spend your money in a way that will make you happy.
