My Nightmare: Worst Paint job (Aimgain bodykit)

Here's some pics of my Aimgain front/rear bumpers...Let's just say...You get what you pay for ...

Received my kit shipped from Japan at the end of November. That same day I took it down to a local paint and body place to have it done. It's been 1 month since I dropped it off...I Was assured it would match and be very well done. They charged me $800 ( not installed ) to do this mess. I'm actually thinking of sueing them It's such a poor job. They refunded me 1/2 my money but they're a corporate chain so i think I'll escalate the situation. Not sure.

Basically Im going to have it all redone for just under $2k ... My Greddy V1 fenders arrived...and I'm scared to have it done by anyone other than a well known shop...I've been quoted $4300 for install/paint on the fenders ALONE and I'm thinking of just doing it because of the nightmare I've been going through...What do you guys think?

Sooo...I'm going to bite the bullet and have it all redone...Going to run approx $2,000.00 to fix this mess caused...First off...the color's not even correct. The paint shown is too white. The car itself is the FRS Whiteout so the color's incorrect... Here's a pic of the difference with the sideskirt off the car. ( ignore the XXR's They are temporary ... Until I get the funds to do a hub conversion to 5x114.3 they're just helping with the fitting of the fenders/spacers - They are 18x9.75+20 )

Annnnnnnd here's a pic of the the rear bumper installed...Doesn't look bad in the dark...New quad tip exhaust to come...Hopefully i can correct this nightmare of a paint job despite it hurting the wallet.

On a Positive note...My Skunk2 Coilovers and Stance Lower control arms...do look pretty

I knew before even looking at the pictures that your car was Whiteout. It's notoriously difficult to colormatch, even for skilled shops. That's one of the reasons I went with Firestorm. Good luck.

I just want it right. You see the lines in the pictures? Looks like they were done by a blind man...they are not straight. If color was my only convern I'd be less upset.

All my pieces came out too white as well. its best to have the shop have your car to paint the pieces and fading them in. my brz is closer to yellow than white.

it took me long enough to figure out a good match for whiteout, with a car to match test panels with. any shop that is going to just spray the basic formula without doing test panels/tinting is not going to get a good match. i can get it almost dead on without blending now, but that took probably close to 12 custom tint sessions and spray out panels. but anyway, those lines look horrible

MAACO...yes I know Im a tard for going there in the first place....but I figured a well known chain would be easier to deal with than a mom and pop shop....anyways I'm not so much disappointed with the slight variation In the color as I am in the terrible lines between black and white.

which maaco? did you check reviews? every shop is different. every maaco is different. white is the hardest color to match. It will never be perfect if you are a perfectionist. It can get up to 99% but it will never never be 100% unless you spray the whole car. Too many variables. Spray pattern, single stage? double stage? What brand paint? base coat? primer color? clear coat, original paint fading from sun, thickness of coats, etc...

You best bet is to ask a lot of questions. Ask for a test spray on random piece to get a test match/color adjustment. Most shops will say whatever it takes to get your business(money). 95% of shops WON"T tell you that it WON'T match perfectly without a blend/full respray. The you have paint shops that won't touch your parts because they get big bucks from the insurance jobs.

Maaco was a fitting choice for that tacky bodykit.

I've had 3 shops send me away stating they dislike working with fiberglass. On the 5th I have an appointment to get it all redone. For now, I'm putting on the front, rear, and sideskirts so I can take it to the shop on the car and have them work it out.

Tacky is a personal opinion, but... I'd have to say I dig the Lexus look. Our cars look like a baby LF-A anyways.

My opinion is obviously different than other's but I'm very picky with paintwork. If I was doing any sort of widebody kit etc the whole car would be getting resprayed. I haven't seen a perfectly matched bolt on one yet.
