Fuse Taps for Fog Lights

Ok, so, put fog lights on today (what a pain, but that's a whole other story.) Short of the long is that I didn't have the part on hand to make it not so sketchy. Right now, they aren't hooked up to anything, so I have the fogs, the wiring and everything done and put together, minus getting power. I've found an empty fuse spot to use and it only gets power when the key is in the "on" position (great, exactly what I wanted). Now the issue is, it's the fuse box in the dash. With it being small, the lid fits on quite tightly and there's not really room for a fuse tap unless I keep the lid off.

My two options here,

A) is to get the fuse tap and just go on without the fuse box lid. Is that going to cause problems? The box is out of the elements, so I don't think it would really need to be protected from anything, but again, I'm new to the modifying thing and I'd like to know what could possibly go wrong if I go with that option.

B) I splice some connector onto the end that's small enough to not get in the way of the box closing and just run the wire out of the box with the lid closed on it. What can I do for that? I'm thinking a smaller ring connector, but will that mess something up possibly? I used some connectors on my bike (can't remember what they were called) but it was basically a spade-like male end into a female end. Kind of like a quick disconnect. Anyways, I was thinking I could use the male end of that.

EDIT: Upon further reading, this is the male-female thing I was thinking about, although the male end was covered, except where it connected
