2015 FRS AUX input?

Hi all,

I've seen some posts around the forum about how the 2012 unit doesn't actually have aux ports that actually function. I saw another thread about the 2014 but the question was never answered directly.

I'm planning on getting a 2015 frs soon and I was wondering if the aux port actually functions. This is a pretty huge deal for me and I'd be really saddened if I couldn't even play music through it. If it doesn't actually function, what other options are there (i.e. Bluetooth)?

Thanks!

The car comes with STREAMING Bluetooth audio meaning u can play your music from your smartphone through the cars speakers.

It's soo convenient that I have yet to use the CD payer or plug in a USB cable to play my music.

I have a 2015 and the AUX inputs work fine. There's also a usb port which I use a thumb drive to play my music and I can even use a Sony MP3 player with the cord. Usb port and a port for aux cable.

My Aux works just fine.

When you look at listening to audio from a practical standpoint:
- Your smartphone can connect via BT and you can play music stored on the handset, or streamed from whatever source you wish
- You can use a flashdrive in the USB port. I use a 64gb flash and it's the most practical solution by far, for me. I can transfer music from my library to my USB 3.0 drive very fast, 64gb storage handles all of the music I need at any point in time, there's nothing to keep charged, plus there's no loss in audio quality due to BT transmission.

So, what device do you need to connect via AUX?

Can't say I've ever used my AUX port. I do regularly use the BT and USB though. For USB, check out one of these- so small you can barely tell it's there.

^^ Yup ^^

That's what I have - but the 64gb version. I think it was $24.

It sticks out just a bit. Not obtrusive at all.

Aux port works perfectly on my car built in 2012 (sold as a 2013).

What you may have heard is that the USB connection only functions for data on select Apple products or not at all. It is a decent trickle charge port but not much else.

As stated above, on my headunit and with my phone bluetooth streaming works perfectly (Android, from vanilla Jellybean up is nearly flawless), spotify subscription and run a couple playlists on shuffle regularly or pick out an album, can be downloaded to phone to eliminate data concerns. Google Play music works similarly I believe.

If I have the app open on my phone before I lock it the car will start up and pick up playing music immediately without me taking it out of my pocket, headunit controls to pause, skip, volume, are great and it displays track info. Couldn't ask for more.

This is a common myth. BlueTooth is a digital connection. There is no "quality". Like an HDMI cable, it either works or it doesn't.

I have a 2013 (made october 2012) with the base stereo and I've never actually used the aux ports. Now I'm curious haha
