Kamak turbo kit

Hey everyone,

Just to make you all aware, there is now a Turbo kit offering from Kamak (Kinugawa being the sister company setup specifically for the Asian market):
http://phoenixperformance.co.za/prod...d05h-20gxtgtx/

I was wondering if any of the international guys are running this kit yet?

Thanks all.
D

It looks like another version of the Zage/GReddy/SBD/Hexon design, the manifold design and heat shield point me in that direction.

I'm also in South Africa and looking at bringing in some form of turbo kit for a customer, PM me if you want.

It actually looks nothing like the GReddy or GReddy rip offs at all. The GReddys have flex pipes on the header, don't use V-Bands on the downpipe, and the charge pipes are run completely different to an intercooler that has top mounted inlet/outlets.

Interesting looking kit though, although I have no idea what a R is for currency.

You right, on closer inspection all the things you point out make sense.

On a side note, the description states V-mount intercooler and the piping angles do look different to most of the other kits. Would be nice to see a more detailed shot of the cooler from the front.

That's 3100 pounds, which is about $5000 US. The kit looks like it comes with a front pipe and over pipe which makes 5k somewhat reasonable if the quality is there.

They have one long thread on NASIOC with quite a few people trying their turbos. They definitely don't perform as well as the turbos they have been copied from, but they are decent and of course much cheaper.

I wonder if those were perhaps the first ones they made or just bad luck because I see a lot of threads popping up about them on various forums with great results...

If you're dropping 5 grand on a turbo kit, why not just get a brand that's already trusted?
