Question Prospects of ditching drive-by-wire throttle

I'm shooting in the dark here, but what's the feasibility of ditching the drive by wire in lieu of a more traditional cable throttle?

I'm not a car guru but am no spring chicken either. I truly hate the feel of our throttles... the blip action especially. Feels so artificial and whatnot.

If cable throttle isn't in the cards, are there options to refine/customize throttle response via tuning methods?

If you lose the drive by wire, all the nannies that require throttle control are toast. What do you do about them?

Learn to drive safely like people did for the 50 odd years before nannies were common place?

Losing cruise control on the other hand would annoy me.

EDIT: It is probably more than 50 years.

I dont see why people get nervous to lose Traction and Stability control. Its not like the car is dangerous without them.

You can change the throttle characteristics via tuning. I haven't personally done so yet but I've been looking at reviews of OFT and so far I've seen good comments about how the throttle feels better with a tune. I would say that tuning would be much easier than going to cable throttle.

You can get a throttle controller, or just have the trottle tuning changed with an ECU tune. The car's throttle respone also changes when you turn traction and/or stability control off. The overall drive ability of my car with the OFT base map is significantly improved over stock (improved idle + quicker throttle response).

If you compare the DBW throttle tables their is minimal change in the oft maps.

The better response is due to maf scaling, fueling ingition timing and intake/exhaust cam timing changes.
