Primacy HP tires = good!

So after getting PSS for my BRZ, I put the stock rims and Primacy HP tires on my Bugeye WRX - holy cow, the tires are nice?!! Running the same psi, the tires that felt harsh and lacked traction now feel great. Car rides very smoothly, steering feel is great, no tire noise cornering, and makes the wrx feel more upscale.

This is very surprising bc these tires on the BRZ did not feel like this at all. I wonder if some extra weight was needed? Old tires were Yokohama S-Drives, which felt mushy even when new. Noisy going down the road too. Funny how a tire can feel so different from one car to another.

Well that's rather interesting, all we ever hear are complaints about these stock tires.

Probably because its AWD and it doesn't put as much g's on average as the BRZ would, it probably is able to use more of the tires limited capability because of those things.

I miss my stock tires sometimes. May not be the best tires for racing, but they were certainly fun.

The Primacy's are classified as a "Grand Touring" tire by tirerack and others, so they're supposed to be comfortable. The tires arent' as bad as people say they are. Most are overdriving them - dare I say, but I feel that there's a good number of people that use the tires as an excuse for their poor driving habits. I autocross on mine, and while I never set FTD or come close to being #1 amongst fellow but more modified FR-Ss and BRZs, there's always a few people on PSS's or other performance summer tires who are slower than me.

I like the Primacy's because they make the car fun, and it's easy to determine where the tire's grip limits are. They offer pretty good grip, while being comfortable and giving us great fuel mileage.

I feel that the Primacy tires are pretty good. They have impressed me in heavy rains/deep puddles with no hydroplaning and hold on ok through spirited corners even when wet below 40º. Panic stops have been good too. The dual nature they allow this car to have though makes them great!

The primacy is a LRR tire. It's built to be efficient. The car has more power than the tire can handle. It's a great tire, for a prius.

*shrugs* Drive around on the PSS, and then put the stock wheel and tires back on. I bet you'll be surprised. I've gone through Eagle F1s and now PSS, and both are significantly louder than the stock tires.

I like the Primacy especially for the LRR. Great gas mileage. I've already made up my mind to stick with them after I tear up my first set. Might as well just buy someone's stock wheels and call it a day.

I upgraded from the stock Primacy's last year to an 18" combo with Conti ExtremeDW tires. Surprisingly, was only able to better my lap time by a sec (2'-32" lap), so not much at all.
Granted the larger wheel/tire combo (245's on 18x9) negated some of the advantages, but it proves the tire is pretty decent regardless.

Of course, I mounted some RS3's this year and easily dropped 2 secs, plus they were much louder in road noise.

All in all, I think ToyoBaru chose well with the Primacy's as a OEM tire.

Honestly after reading about how 'bad' (relative) people said the tires were and then getting the car I was surprised at how well they actually handle. I drove through a rainstorm on the way back from Whistler BC with deep puddles everywhere but did not have a problem with them doing their job.
The primacies are enough to have fun and daily for me.

Primacy HPs have a Treadwear rating of 240. Conti's have a tread wear rating of 340.

You would have had better results by using primacy's on your wheels :p

One thing I did notice about the PSS compared to Primacy is rain performance. Moderately wet, the PSS feel like they've got the same amount of grip as the Primacy when dry. They really do have exceptional grip under the right temperatures.
