Hello guys and gals

I'm sure its possible to switch from the factory led strip to oem fog lights but would it be possible to use the led strip wiring/connection and toggle switch? I would prefer to hear from those who have done this if anyone has to avoid confusion or speculation. I think the wattage may not be the same and the led's dim when the headlights are on so i know there's some connection to cause this.. I wanted to use the same switch under the dash to turn on the fog lamps. Maybe some of the electrical guys could chime in. I do not know what type of connection the led's use, wire gauge, nothing really but i could find out.. Thanks.

I snapped this pic of the under dash wiring... god this looks messy and complicated to me.. these two little wires come from the engine bay into what looks like a balast controller. Again this is all russian to me.. but maybe someone could help out.

If you look at this DIY, you can see what the different colored wires do.

I am 99.9% certain you will see a blue wire going to the engine bay, and connected somewhere to your headlight wire - that is causing the LED strip to dim when your headlights are on.

Actually.........the manufacturer on that "ballast" (actually a power control module) is different from the one I bought from - Auer vs Topsage - so I'm not sure if the control wires are the same color. In the Topsage kit, if you connect the blue wire to the headlight power, then it dims the LEDs, if you connect the white wire to the headlight power, then it turns off the LEDs.

That is some unecessary, overly complicated shit lol. So much dissassembly of trim panels and body panels. But if you were curious about what the wires on your kit are located/do, please take a look at the instructions.

I actually did go to their site but was checking out the fog lamp installation instructions. Thanks. I think the LEDs will have to be removed because the fog lamp kits out there usually connect to the battery and the connectors for the bulbs are also completely different. Unless a company makes a kit for vehicles with LEDs.

Looks like it. That's the same controller my oem led strips came with mounted in the same exact spot.

Yep oem installed from Toyota. I emailed diode dynamics to see if they have sown thing or have ever considered doing something like this. May not be coming but after 2014 FRSs steered coming with those LEDs.

They're not OEM, they're a GST or SET accessory. And since you're from Florida, I'll guess SET. They'll be the same as the people with the aftermarket led strip so you may want to look up their install instruction.

I hate it when I look at a new FRS on the lot and GST has installed the LED strips. They add an additional $399 to the sticker. I agree that the FRS was made for fog lights. Hope you get a quick fix on the switch.

Not sure what the acronyms mean or if they're even acronyms but they're made specifically for Toyota from auer, the company logo is in the picture I posted. I did go to their website and checked the info they had. I don't mind them but I would rather have fogs. I'm just not great with t electrical stuff so I would rather pay for a plug and play solution. Let's see what @Diode Dynamics has to say

GST is gulf state Toyota and SET is southeast Toyota. They're two of the twelve regions for Toyota sales. Because they were the first two regions established and have a more relaxed contract (with Toyota motor corporation, not TMS), they can and will do things like port installed accessories which are then labeled as "OE".
