Volk Racing ZE40 18x7.5 +48
Hello all, recently picked up some ZE40s for my BRZ. Thought I would just show a few pics before they are mounted to show how (un)concave they are. Apologies for the poor lighting.
Very impressed with the craftsmanship in these things, I think they are an automotive piece of art Weight per wheel is 7.5kg (16.5 pounds). |

I can appreciate your enthusiasm, but spend 10 bucks and get a camera that can take 10x better pictures than those

How did you come about getting a size that's exactly the same spec as stock wheels? Usually people got a tad wider for such an expensive wheel. They do offer 8.5, 9.5, and 10 option for 5x100 BTW.

I found the culprit: old and worn iphone case covering the lens. After promptly ditching it, suddenly the photos are a lot sharper and clearer.

I am modelling my BRZ after the BRZ ts, so I am trying to keep to similar specs. The intention is to go OEM+, retaining much of the comfort level while increasing handling performance and feel. That being said though, looks aside, I think 8.5 would be the best fitment. With 8.5, the wheel is still light compared to wider sizes, plus there is more room to fit a wider variety of BBK. I found during BBK test fitting a lot of the calipers would not clear the wheel spokes by only a few mm without using a spacer. |

Did you had issues fitting the 7.5 over BBK? I know stock is 17x7, this is only .5" wider so it's still within the realm of stock sizing. Now I understand your approach of having to keep OEM spec and feel and modeling off the TS. I think going 8.5 would of gave you a little bit more of an advantage and upgrade to the feel of the car with a 235 wide tire.

What size tires do you plan to run? Also, where did you purchase them? Having a hard time finding them online and everything I've found shows the narrowest to be 8.5, not the 7.5 you got.

For the wheels, I bought them through Jesse Streeter: http://jessestreeter.com/ I found the 7.5s as an available size on the rays website, and got Jesse to order them and ship them to Australia for me. Top bloke! He is very fast at replying emails, and his commission is relatively cheap. If you want to buy some parts from Japan, definitely give him a try, his prices are very good too. |
