How to Access Side Marker Wiring for Fog Lights?
Does anyone know how to access the side marker wiring from the engine bay?
I'd like to wire my Diode Dynamics fog light kit to turn on whenever the side markers are on, instead of having them wired to the headlights, but I'm not sure how to identify the wiring to it from the engine bay. I'd prefer to do this without removing the side markers as my clear ones were a huge PITA to install, and getting them to sit correctly. Has anyone done this that can offer some insight, or is there a DIY that I'm missing? |

Well I tapped into the passenger side marker with my kit. What I did was turned the wheel counter clockwise so I would be able to have access to the fender lining. If you look closely there should be a plastic tab holding the fender lining to the fender. It should be right next to the side marker. Pop the clips out and pull the lining downward to expose the wiring of the side marker. Iirc the white wire is POS, and the black is NEG. Just tap the harness supplied by Diode Dynamics to those wires and you should be set. Hope it helps you and good luck.

You wouldn't need a relay if you did this?
Just the fogs wired to each other and then the negative and positive to the marker light wires? |

Side marker should only be used for signal to the relay and fogs should be tapped to battery due to current draw. Unless you want to blow marker light fuses, which includes rear tails. It's all running on a single 10a fuse.

I have seen fogs tapped into the low beam wires as well. That would seem pretty simple if it would work.
