The "Common Sense" New Tire Thread
So, this thread is born out of the unfortunate incident of one of my tires picking up a nail in the shoulder, which usually means death of the tire. Its especially frustrating, as there is still plenty of tread in the tire--about 22k miles on OEM tires--and I will have to replace at least two, if not all four (thats a discussion for another time).
My question is this: I did some searching and could not find a thread that recommends tires that are a compromise between price and performance. I realize that you get what you pay for, and that paying less means getting less tire, but I don't need the tire of a weekend warrior--I need one that performs when I want it to but won't wear out in a month, as I use this car as a daily driver. So, the purpose of this thread is to give recommendations for a daily driver tire for the twins that is a good mix between durability and performance, without breaking the bank. I appreciate any advice you guys and gals can give me. I am going to be talking to my tire guy on Monday and would like to have some suggestions to give. Thanks! |

I think tire rack had the hankook v12 evo2's on for 111/tire. I just can't remember if it was a 215 or 225 size.

This is a really good deal. Decent tire and great price. I'm getting ready to pick up a set. |

I'm assuming you want all seasons.
If so, than the Hankook Ventus S1 noble 2 is your best bet. Price for our OEM size is $408 on tire rack.

Continental extreme contact DW or DWS, depending on if you want summer or all season. The DW is $111, the DWS is $122.

Depends which is cheaper. All seasons would be fine, but summers would be fine as well, as I have a set of winters already

I have run sumitomo tires in the past on an an Acura legend. Cheap good z rated tires. Durability, is subjective, all tires will puncture. Even 10 ply truck tires...

I ended up with a new set of goodyear asymetric f1 on a set of wheels i bought this summer.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes They are dogshit awful for autox. But as a specifically dd tire, I think i like them better than my pilot super sport set. |

I put Hankook V12 evo2's on this summer with my new wheels and was quite happy with them.
Good DD (low noise, great in the rain) and they worked just fine on the track as well. |

Another vote for hankook v12s. Better grip than stock, great in the rain, cheap, and durable to the point where I can hoon my 400+ horses around and not need tires every oil change.

That looks good. I'm interested in price and mileage. The v12s are pretty damn cheap.
