VCMC Track Day for the Scion Fr-S Launch
Hello Everyone,
I just came back from the FR-S Launch at the VCMC Track Day and we had a hoot with the New 2013 Scion FR-S. The cars that were used are the ones that belong to the Scion Headquarters which includes 1 Silver FR-S AT, 1 White FR-S MT, and 1 Black FR-S MT. The cars that we drove were the Silver AT and the White MT that has made rounds in the Local GVRD area. FEW Track Notes: - Both Cars were fantastic, and though I got a faster time in the AT (Maybe because it was my 4th out of the 4 runs), I much prefer the MT because i like rowing gears! I feel as if the MT is a more serious car because you really can't blame the car when its your faulty driver error that is causing the mistake. - The car barely dips when braking hard, and it is very composed when turning hard. - The car was equipped with 18x8 (what it looked to be like 18x8 - not sure what it was wrapped with (kumho sponsered the tires)), and the rear was sliding on the slightly damp track. Anyways, more photos will come later considering the fact that I am stuck at the hospital studying my butt off. HAHA |

Went out in the M/T three times , wasn't interested in driving the auto. I found that the damp track really didn't give accurate indication of the cars limits. The car was very controllable and well balanced . I hung the tail out a few times ( and managed to bring it back in) which was quite new to me coming from front drivers.

MAN! we should have all met if we could have!
I was there from 11am to 1pm - something. I have to admit though, I was smiling EAR TO EAR with every lap that they toured me through the course. After that, I had my game face on for every lap that I did. I got 33.X seconds which i thought was pretty good but I had so many errors with it. But it was FREAKING AWESOME! WOULD LOVE TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN!

Oh and I forgot to say, during out of the wide turns on the top right corner of the map, I got my foot caught between the clutch pedal and the left foot rest. HAHA. Had to wrestle my foot out while gasing it as hard as i could. I learned a lot of tips from one of the senior drivers who was sitting next to me. - Be smooth with the throttle control because I appearently tend to blip the throttle at times through the turns - Be smooth with my steering inputs because they are too wide sometimes which causes a lot of understeer/oversteer. Man, i am still grinning ear to ear and have joined VCMC. I am trying to reflect on my experience with the Fr-S... - I felt that the shifter was light and moving it into the different shift gates was very easy - i don't know if this is a positive or a negative thing for me. I will have to go for another test drive. LOL. - The car still has a bit of body roll that I still don't like and will be looking for suspension/tires/wheels upgrades as the first mod. If I can get it tighter, I would love to get that chance. I/H/T will follow after - Intake being first. The elantra will be kept 100% stock. - I want to buy the car tomorrow but I really have to play it safe and wait for 6 weeks. MAN. THIS IS TOUGH! |

Sounds like you guys all had a lot of fun. I'm kinda pissed that the dealership didn't really offer me an invite.
I almost went just for the heck of it. But In the end the GF and I went to the Ikea sale in coquitlum instead. I'm glad you guys enjoyed Autocrossing. I'm planning to go karting this weekend or the next if you guys want to come? I just need to see if I get my FR-S or not this week. I won't be able to go karting this coming weekend without it. Ben |
