GrimmSpeed Pulley Cover problems

Wasn't sure what section to post this in.

First off I have nothing but love for Grimmspeed!

I have had the Grimspeed cover for a few months now and it "Looks" good!

First Issue I had was the front facing bolt/washer just fell off one day while driving... Not to big an issue I called Grimspeed they shipped me replacement for about $15

Not too long after it fell off again... luckily it fell into a crevice on the engine block and I was able to retrieve it.

I learned my lesson I used a bit of lock tight on the Bolt and well this happend...

Bolt sheered off

And a broken belt...

Not sure what to make of this, Do I have bad luck or is their something else wrong here? Anyone else having an issue with it?

How much are you torquing the bolts?

Did you use the right bolt?
From the pictures, it appears you've used the short one when it should have been the long one?

It was short bolt, short stand-off on the front side. and the long bolt, long stand-off on top.

I'll leave this here; I left the alternator belt cover on and used strips of Velcro attached to pulley cover and the alternator belt cover. No need to manipulate the alternator belt cover and it's secured after months of having the GS-cover on.

Btw, I like all the blue in your engine bay.

That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

@Freeze2196

Maybe asking @GrimmSpeed would help.

Been lucky. Top bolt is in place and I had to modify the front to fit a Vortech pipe, rendering removal of that half of the front side. Been Velcro'ed since new and frequent checks, it doesn't budge. Plenty of drives later, no issue - the industrial strength Velcro holds. I just have to insert a small screwdriver to pry the Velcro apart.

GrimmSpeed Pulley Cover problems

I've had my bolt walk out but I fixed it with loctite blue and properly tightening it.

Mine was user error

Installed mine months ago during group buy. Haven't touched the bolts since the initial install, but this thread motivated me to check them. Happy to report that everything is still nice and tight.

I bought during group buy, and I hadn't touched it until last night. Mine was secure and perfectly fine. Might want to see what the proper torque is for those bolts. I hand tightened them and haven't had a single issue.

P.S. Short bolt is def front facing. Long one is top facing.

I stumbled across this thread by accident today and I wish I had seen it sooner! Have you contacted us through PM, email or phone yet since it's been a month and I'm not sure this ever got noticed?

That definitely looks like a case of horrible luck. That's an extremely weird place for that bolt to shear as it is inside the sleave and not at an area that would see any sort of shear load. And the bolt is stainless steel so if you were to overtighten it it would strip the threads first. The only way I could see this happening is if you loctited the bolt in place, let it harden, and then tried to tighten it again at a later point, but that really doesn't make any sense. So it really does look like a case of horrible luck.

If you haven't contacted us for a replacement bolt yet please do, and mention the fact that I looked at this, and we'll get you a replacement bolt, because that certainly is a peculiar failure.

And thanks to everyone who also helped out before today as we haven't checked our "mentions" in a while apparently.
