Help, Rays 57extreme 18 on Toyota '86

Need some help,

I'm planning to buy a Rays 57extreme 18x9.5 +40mm for my Toyota '86. My car is slandered with no modification of whatsoever.

I would like to know if the Wheels will stick out/in if I install them on my car without any modification. Or do I need to adjust the suspensions or something like to make the wheels fit just right?

You probably don't need suspension mods depending on the size of your tires, but 18x9.5 +40 looks horrible on stock suspension IMO. I'd say do suspension mods first then wheels and tires, or at least have lowering springs and some form of camber adjustment.

{{(9.5-7)X2.54}/2}X10 + (48-40)=39.75 mm
Its going to stick out a lot with stock suspension by adding like 40mm spacers.

The OEM for 18" wheels recommand 7.5J with 225 tire upgrade. 200HP really dont need big foot but its your preference.

I don't think that setup will work on a completely stock setup, you need coilovers that have a smaller diameter springs for clearance.

With that aside, it will poke quite a bit in the front. Even lowered on coilovers to about about a 2-finger gap up front, I was poking a bit in the front. I got a custom alignment with about -1.5 degree camber and it made it about flush.

9.5 wide wheels will not clear the stock spring perch when turning left/right. Need coilovers to make them fit.

He is not adding 40mm spacers. What he meant is that the wheel offset is +40mm

F 17X7 + 28
R 17x7 + 23
This mean 18x9.5 +40mm with stock suspension.
F will poke 19.75 mm
R will poke 14.75 mm
In the other word, 18x9.5 +40mm wheels will look like the same as you add 40mm spacers to OEM spec.

If you understand the caculation, you will know how much will poke or stick in for front and rear. The answer is
(((8-7)x2.54)/2)X10 + (48-42) = 18.7 mm
F will stick in 1.3 mm
R will stick in 6.3 mm
So Wedsport TC105N front is almost flush but you may need to add 5mm spacers to get flush in the rear. Or try to find wider section width tire if you dont like to add spacers.

I think most of ppl here agree that by adding 20mm spacers to the front and 25mm spacers in the rear will get you OEM flush look. At least that works for me.

Well, that math is to get you a general idea. The best way is to check the wheels fitment in person. ^.~

Yes, but my recommendation to avoid rub is to not go lower than 1.5 inches and don't use tires wider than 245.

255 tires probably need a wee bit of camber to not rub at that height.

265 tires require close to -2 camber, and a slight fender roll on the back (this is the setup I have), and right at the very end of the turning radius, it starts hitting the spring perch so you can't go 100% turn anymore, maybe 95% or so.

rule of thumb, suspension before wheels. ALWAYS.

please do not put a 245 on a 9.5 wheel.
