I'd say yes, no matter where you live. Unless the car is a dedicated track car, you need the thermostat.

I don't have a t-stat. Live in Miami. Car is not DD. But when I use it, so far always reach opersting temp. Cooler is located in same spot as FBM cooler. In winter its probably going to be harder to get to operating temp but I bet it gets there.

For 550$ shipped to my door I ordered the Mishimoto oil cooler with a t-stat just to be on the safe side. being a 19 row cooler should be plenty for 100+ degree track days in CA boosted might be a different story but na should be fine

With 19 rows and NA you should be fine at heavy track use (that's for engine oil)... But I didn't see it or look for it, is your car MT or AT?

In Socal running Jackson Racing oil cooler w/o thermostat. Oil gets to 190F minimum. On cool nights I get up to 185F minimum. I am planning on installing a thermostat when it gets cooler in the winter.

0w20 flows extremely well and can be operated in the 175-185F range and oil pressures will be excellent. If you are running a cooler with no T-Stat and you are always in those temp ranges you are good.

But if you are struggling to get up to those temps in warm climate on a daily driver you will want a t-stat. I would always running a t-stat cooler on a street car, which 95% of the cars on this forum are.
