Question for you
Hey all.
I have a quick question. I have about 700$ saved, and I am looking to do my first major mod. I am looking at get an OpenFlash Tablet for the first mod, but I am having second thoughts wondering if it is the best option for my first major mod. Other options I thought of were getting a used exhaust, or overpipe/front pipe. Does anyone here have any other suggestions/opinions that may be helpful? I am wanting to make a change to this car, and I know if I get an OFT, it will set me up in case I want to make a major upgrade on the car (i.e. headers) Any thoughts/comments/input would be greatly appreciated. |

For $700, get an OFT, MTEC springs, transmission insert, rear diff outrigger inserts, and rear shifter bushing.

The OFT stage 1 is a definite improvement over stock.
The MTEC springs replace the springs that center the shifter. So now you'll have a much firmer and defined shifter, especially between 2-3 and 5-4. The transmission insert fills the hole in the transmission bushing with a polyurethane insert, so the transmission flexes on its bushings less. The rear diff inserts do the same thing, but for the rear diff. The OEM diff bushings let the diff flop around a lot; you can hear this when you shift, it makes a large clunk. The rear shifter bushing replaces the soft OEM bushing with polyurethane. |

Would the tune be worth it if I only have access to 91 Octane where I'm at? Is it going to improve the car even though I don't have access to E85 or 93 Octane?

It will absolutely improve the car. I'm currently OFT Stg 1 on 91 octane, and it's a wonderful improvement over stock.
Plus, when it comes time to build your exhaust, you already have the OFT so you can flash Stg 2 right away. |

Your next mod should be a catless header and stage 2. Really helps fill the tq dp and increase high rpm HP.

I love having the mods I listed. Aside from the OFT, they were all $50 or less, and they make such a huge improvement over factory. The drivetrain is firm and taut instead of loose and sloppy, and the shifter is precise and defined.
I just received RCE yellows from FT-86 SpeedFactory, so that, camber bolts, and steering rack bushings are all scheduled for my next install day. |

TURBOOO!!!
lol jk. Bushings bushings bushings. Its the little things that transform how the car feels when driven. Shifter bushings, transmission bushings, Diff bushings... Id also say sway bars and springs, and eventually some sticker tires. OFT if you get their header and an exhaust to pair it with.

I do have a manual, and bushings are on the way. I cannot do a catless header because of silly annual inspections. There must be the same number of cats on the car in order to pass a Motor Vehicle Inspection. We do not (thankfully) have emissions testing. |
